Comic Book Moments of the Week for 06/19/13

Welcome to another edition of Moments of the Week! This week sees the end of Age of Ultron, the Hulk and Daredevil team up, New Avengers beats the drums of war, and Uncanny Avengers brings back some heroes to be baddies. Always more, so hit the jump.

Age of Ultron #10

So the present is put back to normal, with Ultron being defeated thanks to a time delayed virus that effectively destroys him when he reactivated in Avengers #12.1 a few years back. But time is now broken, and as a result Galactus is now in the Ultimate Universe.

Another result of time being abused is Angela showing up, riding the decapitated head of some demon she fought. So in the end this event has very little Ultron, and its revelations seem to effect another universe and a character who used to hang out with Spawn. Talk about scattershot.

Avengers #14

This is kind of a hard issue to "momentize" as it's slow burning, playing off all the previous issues and the new growth adversely affecting the planet. But the payoff is with AIM and their recovered object from the Savage Land:

Batman & Robin Batgirl #21

Anger is the theme of this issue, as Babs has removed her bat symbol and Bruce is borderline Robocop. Next issue, Catwoman and depression.

Bloodshot #12

In between Harbinger Wars #3 Bloodshot had to really work to get his protein fix, finally taking out Kuretich. Poor cow.

Harbinger #13

 This is the Renegades' plan to take out Bloodshot, all fine and dandy. Until he finally shows up:

Blodshot makes it to the casino and it's a matter of the two sides taking a moment to realize they're on the same side.



Indestructible Hulk #9

Superheroes pulling pranks like this, no wonder the world doesn't trust them sometimes. Daredevil shows up to help while also checking in on Banner, as he gets weekly calls to make sure SHIELD didn't rocket him off Earth again.

One of the bad guys gets away with an ultrasonic weapon, so Bruce and Matt hit the streets to look for him. But it's always better to have a Hulk play the enforcer:

Scalera's art is perfect for the book, if you're only picking up Hulk or Daredevil and not the other Waid-written series, this is a good place to start.

New Avengers #7

Who knew Dr. Strange would be so antagonistic, especially to a guy who will gladly expose the Illuminati and their actions. Meanwhile, as two months have passed since the last planetary incursion, Namor and T'Challa have spoken about brokering peace between their two nations. But sadly, T'Challa is not King of Wakanda:

And right before Infinity hits, too.



Superior Spider-Man #12

Jameson made his point pretty clear, one that Otto is completely fine with.

Let's see if her really goes through with it, that would be a strong departure from other heroes, a bit like Jean-Paul's time as Batman.

Uncanny Avengers #9

Wanda is pretty much Remender's voice for this argument, elaborating on what Alex said four months ago. Still feels a bit hollow, but that could just be me.

So that's Grim Reaper, Banshee, Daken, and....Sentry? Uh oh.


Wonder Woman #21

Orion is actually talking about finding Zeke, Diana just thinks she's the center of attention. And what we also find out is that Orion is after the First Born, not Zeke.

He's gotta be safe, right? They wouldn't kill off one of the better new characters!

I want to see more of New Genesis, now.
