Welcome to Moments of the Week, arriving just on the eve of holiday season. So put down your next gen controllers and take a look at this week's books. Avengers shows us alien allies, Zero has a real gut punch of a story, and Wonder Woman shows family relationships in a way only gods would be used to. Much more after the jump, so let's get started!
Avengers #23
Black Dwarf meets a pretty messy end. But he never had a chance against those four. SWORD's station is about to be freed, we're so close to the end of this series, one week to go.
Batman & Two-Face #25
A flashback, where we also get hints that Erin has an identical twin who is much nicer. Another duality to go along with Harvey's past. But it seems even Bruce knows who Erin is:
Another reveal! Back in prison Erin's good as dead, until an old face returns:
Good old Matches, always helping out when Bruce and Batman aren't around. Wait a minute, if he's around and those other two aren't, that means......
Buzzkill #3
High Guard isn't as nice as Superman in these situations. "Ruben" (his name is really Francis) is working the twelve steps, trying to apologize to his old girlfriend. Things don't go so well:
That's a JV move, bro. Even in the superhero world where everyone dates everyone at some point.
Uncanny X-Men #14
Benjamin has feel good powers along with looking like whoever he talks to, so some field training is necessary:
The final test for this new mutant is to use his powers to deliver a note to Dum Dum Dugan in a SHIELD office. Trial by fire indeed:
He may be a revolutionary, but
Cyclops is polite.
Wonder Woman #25
I think it's the extra fruit and centerpiece concept that makes this even creepier than the usual gods stuff. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Milan's in trouble, so Diana goes to help, but Strife is nearly all alone with Zola and Zeke, like she planned this revelation....
X-O Manowar #19
Taking place just after Unity #1, it's a fight between the two Visigoth leaders that's been brewing for the past few issues:
They fight it out, Aric wins without help from his armor, and they become friends, the manly man way of dealing with their problems. Real props to Cary Nord for some great, great art this issue.
Young Avengers #12
Let the battle of age begin. Of course, the real conclusion is next issue. But man did this issue pad Billy's ego. Come to think of it, the whole series has done that, but it's really in effect here.
Zero #3
Ginsberg Nova, one of the biggest bad guys in 2019, has acquired a teleportation device. Perfect for terrorists. Zero crashes the party to take care of him, but his old pal Mina was also in attendance as his backup and got caught:
I only knew her for two issues, but I liked Mina. And she could still be alive, just somewhere else. Still, no wonder Zero's so bitter about everything.

You know who would've been a big help in Infinity? The Annihilators. You know: Quasar, Silver Surfer, Ronan the Accuser, Beta Ray Bill, Gladiator, and Ikon (Spaceknight). Sure Ronan and Gladiator are there, and they killed off Ikon, but it just seems like Marvel wants to forget everything DnA did with the cosmic universe.
I like how Diana wears her Tiara as a headband in public.
Good old Matches Malone.
Transformers this week revealed that Nightbeat (who died waaaaaaaaaay back in Spotlight: Hardhead in 2008) is "alive" in the Dead Universe.
