Cover of the Week - Supergirl

Welcome to Cover of the Week! Our weekly look at some of the strongest covers that have graced stores and comics. Today's choice is unanimous, as both Ryan and I agree on the winning cover. And really, I think it might be an early contender for cover of the year. Hit the jump to see it.

Ryan L.'s Covers of the Week - Supergirl #61 by Amy Reeder

Ryan L.: This cover is just fun. The mixture between a great almost-catroony line, and the sound effects, and even having the title in the middle make this different enough to stand out but not become confusing. You just look at it and smile. It's fun.

Matt: I really can't disagree with Ryan's assessment. This is a perfect example of what all comic book covers should strive for: it's creative, it's fun, and it makes you interested in what's inside. Bonus point for putting the logo in the middle, instead of the top as usual. Overall, an incredibly bold cover.

Runner-Ups: Avengers Academy #9,  Memoir #2, Uncanny X-Force #5

I'll agree a pretty good cover. A lot of fun and neat sound effects. However, it doesn't intrigue me enough to want to drop $2.99 for the book.

Is that the fault of the cover or an inherent dislike for Supergirl?

Great question. Actually, I like Supergirl so I'm going to answer the cover. Now some of the Flash and Green Lantern covers catch my attention and make me want to pick them up. New Avengers #9 cover really piqued my curiousity.
