Cover of the Week - Captain America & American Vampire

This week's edition of Cover of the Week is brought to you by the color red. Both of the winning covers have a very strong red background, just one of those strange things that happen sometimes. Hit the jump to see the winners.

Ryan L.'s Covers of the Week - Captain America #615 by Marko Djurdjevic

Ryan L.: There's a lot of little thing to like about this cover. Obviously, it shows Bucky dealing with some intrapersonal issues and by showing his dual roles on the scales we get that. That the Winter Soldier seems to weigh heavier that the Cap persona is worrying. It's also worrying that the Winter Soldier is on the attack while Cap simply stands there. But the thing I like the most is that the Winter Soldier's gun is pointed right at Cap's heart. The straight and level line of the gun breaks the cover well in the middle but I think this cover would have a drastically different feel were he to be pointing the gun up into Cap's face. The only question is; will Cap's shield deflects the bullet safely or simply redirect it into his face...?

Matt's Cover of the Week - American Vampire #12 by Rafael Albuquerque

Matt: Holy smokes! Rafael Albuquerque channels his inner Dave Johnson and produces an amazing cover. The simple colors, the composition, and the text as part of the cover (which is one of Johnson's trademark moves) are all top notch.

Runner-Ups: Astonishing X-Men #36 (Kaluta Variant), Deadpool #33, Power Man & Iron Fist #2
