An amazing Moments of the Week is in store for our guests, sampling what the comics world has to show for the first week of November. Elves are everywhere in Amazing X-Men, Galactus begins satiating his hunger in Cataclysm, Captain Marvel ends but not without teasing the newest teen superhero, and Forever Evil unites some villains together. Always more, always after the jump.
Amazing X-Men #1
Nightcrawler is in Heaven, but he spends his days sitting right on the edge of paradise looking down at Earth. Azazel is up to something as he tries to storm the gates of Heaven, and we are introduced to red Bamfs. Blue Bamfs? They've been building something in the bowls of the Jean Grey School:
Bamf'd to Heaven, actually. Wheels are in motion for the acrobatic swashbuckler to return to life.
Batman/Superman #5
Batman fought Metallo while Superman was out in space, but it seems the villain wasn't actually there. What gives? The new Toyman.
Jimmy Olsen's rich now? The four team up to try another fight against Batman, this time with a Nightwing avatar:
Plans foiled, it all seemed to be set up by Mongul:
This issue had each page in horiztonal layout, and actually worked pretty well.
Captain Marvel #17
In a vein similar to Venom, we get a one page tease for the new Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan. Marvel sure is hoping she reaches Venom levels of popularity when her new series arrives in January.
Cataclysm: The Ultimates Last Stand #1
The garden state is the goner state, as Galactus wastes no time or words to tear up the planet. Call in the Ultimates:
East of West #7
Death's looking for his son, and this trippy Legend of Zelda-esque temple opening is totally ominous. Last issue we saw the Keeper of The Word get a demon monster attached to him as Bel escaped, here's the story of his upbringing:
Motherly love from a horseman of the apocalypse is always going to be messed up.
Forever Evil #3
There's the big Ultraman/Black Adam fight. Meanwhile the Rogues rebelled, and Deathstorm uses his powers to make Captain Cold not so cold:
This is more like how the Avengers should have formed than the Injustice League.
Green Lantern #25
So, to get up to speed: Mogo is the new GL homeworld, Carol is in love with Kyle who used all his powers to restart the GL battery, but Relic was right and the use of the power rings is tapping away at the reserve of the universe. But it's a big, big battery, and Hal is under the idea it's only for the Green Lanterns to use. To get started in reducing the emotional power, Hal and Kilowog head off to find the Star Sapphire who escaped at the beginning of Venditti's run:
Prixiam loves her people, and they love her enough to be called in to even the score against the two GLs.
Quantum & Woody #5
Woody is thinking of the rewards of superheroing (at least in his mind) as he cares more about partying with former evil clone Sixty Nine (that's her clone name). Quantum, on the other hand, is looking to do good, with the best of intentions:
This should be a sit-com, because the book is the funniest series on the stands.
Superman Unchained #4
Wraith is probably another Kryptonian or Superman from the future/multiverse. Meanwhile Ascension is after a Luthor (while another has captured Jimmy Olsen) and Lois is told to hold on to a familiar shard:
I think General Lane has done more in the two years of the New 52 than he did in all the years prior of the old universe.

I love Hiro's shirt, nice lil nod to his Composite Superman/Batman robot from Public Enemies. And since they're using Mongul here, seems odd that he was in Green Lantern #23.2. Yeah, I know he's a GL villain, but since he's appearing here then I don't see why it wasn't in Batman-Superman #3.2 or whatever...
Good bye Ultimate Universe, you overstayed your welcome.
Black Adam got his ass kicked. Either he's still weak from being revived, or Ultraman doesn't have a weakness for magic.
