Welcome to another edition of
Cover of the Week! What have we got for you on this lovely Sunday evening? How about some cops, frogs, and proms? I bet that got your attention, just like these covers got ours. Hit the jump to see the winning covers.
Ryan L.'s Covers of the Week - Green Wake #2 by Riley Rossmo
Ryan L.: Rossmo is really launching these covers right into a zone I am digging. The layout of this cover is what captures me with the white stripe down the side, the almost grafitti style of the title, and Ariel's strange and ethereal face. Then the frogs, always with the frogs. This is another outstanding cover.
Matt's Cover of the Week - Avengers Academy #13 by Billy Tan
Matt: It's hard not to like this cover, as it is full of nice details and loads of personality. I particularly like Gravity and Finesse dancing mid-air in the back. This is probably some of Billy Tan's best work I've ever seen, and he knocks it out of the park. However, my only slight against it is: what the heck is wrong with Reptile's face?! Just look at it!
Ken's Cover of the Week - Axe Cop: Bad Guy Earth #3 by Ethan Nicolle
Ken: To fit the story inside, the cover to the final issue of this mini is all over the place, but still uses Axe Cop as a strong focal point. It's a busy cover, but not crowded, and could make someone flip through it on the stands just to see what it's all about.
Runner-Ups: Batman Beyond #5, Fear Itself #2 (Immonen Variant), Gladstone's School For World Conquerors #1
