Hey folks! Sorry, we are running a bit late with last week's Cover of the Week, so you are getting it on Monday as opposed to your usual Sunday dose. This week, Ryan L. and me get to decide which are the best looking covers, or the ones that most caught our eyes, or just which ones worked better. Also, because some readers asked us, we are going to try to add (whenever we know) which artists does each winning cover. Hit the jump to see them.
Ryan L's Cover of the Week - Fantastic Four #577 by Alan Davis
Ryan L.: In my mind, there's usually two types of covers. Those for mainstream superhero comics and other good covers for independent comics. I'm not one to be wowed by the pay-to-pose sterility so often (but not always) utilized in spandex covers. This cover, whoever, gives me something completely else and I can barely quantify what it is. I just know I really dig this cover. Could be that it's on the moon, I always like the moon, and having Earth floating in the background is a nice touch for those who were unsure of the location. It could be the Inhumans lording above the FF, and that may stem from the fact that I am just super-keen to see how Hickman handles those guys. Hell, it could even be the FF is space suits, that's pretty nifty. I like to think it's simply all of those things coming together in a piece of art I really like. There isn't one aspect of this cover that I don't appreciate, and so it's nice to have it on a title like the Fantastic Four.
I do wonder, on a tangential sidenote, why the Thing needs a space suit as I'm not sure how his inner workings are structured. If he is all rock then his lungs aren't porous and so he should be fine, his body wouldn't implode under the strain of outer space, but perhaps there's something I just don't know.

Matt's Cover of the Week - Gotham City Sirens #10 by Guillem March
Matt: I'm usually not a big fan of Guillem March's cheesecake-y art, but it's pretty subdued here (with the exception of Catwoman's cleavage) and I like the crossword concept. It was ultimately the colors that won me over in this cover, I'm not sure if it was March himself that did them, but I dig all the choices made.

Who did that great FF cover? Looks like an Alan Davis cover, but I have my doubts.
@Ryan L - A better question would be why ANY of the FF need a spacesuit. The Blue Area of the Moon is noteworthy BECAUSE it has its own atmosphere. I've been contemplating and half-preparing an article about just how inconsistent has been the treatment of the Blue Area of the Moon over the last four decades.
I think the FF cover could really do without those little boxes with their faces.
And are we even supposed to know how the Thing works on the inside? Has that ever been addressed? I remember when Wolverine ripped (broke? sculpted?) his face, he had a "scar" for a while. I don't remember there being blood, though.

I guess the FF are being safe not sorry when it comes to that specific area of the moon. They must check wikipedia first and see the constant debate so don't want to die to prove a point...ha.
I also like the FF logo, little headshots and all. The quote at the top really gets me every time, kinda wish more comics would do it, but also see how oversaturation would get pretty stale pretty quick.

Something I always disliked about the Runners-Up of the Cover of the Week is that they're so small! and, when I go to click on them to go for a bigger look, they open in a new tab - although still very small. Come on WeeklyCrisis, give me large Runner-Up images!
@Daniel: Haha, we always make the runner ups so small because no one seems to care about them a whole lot. Also, because it's easier to make them.
@Daniel - mate, you're voice is always welcome here. We don't guarantee to ever do anything about it but we'll at least let you post it here. Actually, we really welcome the feedback because then we can get better at what we do, Better until we win an Eagle award...one day...
