Story Time - Mogo Doesn't Socialize

Mogo doesn't socialize.  Many have heard that mentioned whenever Mogo, the sentient Green Lantern planetoid featured above, is featured in a story, particularly with regard to the recent events in Green Lantern Corps where Mogo is now most definitely socializing, but few actually know the story of why it is said he does not socialize.  It originated in an old Alan Moore short story way back in Green Lantern Vol 2 #188, circa 1985.  Since so many have not read this story, I thought I'd post the relevant pages from the hard to find comic.  Hit the jump to find out why Mogo doesn't socialize!

I'd be pissed too if a tick landed on my head(?) and cut off my hair follicles in an effort to find me! LOL

Mogo: "Punk Kid, Get Off My Head!!!"

I have that story as part of a compendium of everything Alan Moore wrote for the DC Universe (outside of Vertigo-ish stuff, like Swamp Thing). It's incredible how all of them are awesome. Mogo's story is great, but I personally like Rot Lop Fan's story better.

And that compendium made me wish I could see much more of Alan Moore's take on Green Arrow. =/

Rot Lop Fan? wasn't he the Green Lantern that couldn't see? I was able to get a copy of Alan moore DC srories, it included "what happened to the Man of Tomorrow" and other great tales...

That Alan Moore collection Ivan mentions is really good. You get the Killing Joke, For the Man Who Has Everything, and Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow, plus a lot of other stuff, all for the same price (or possibly less) as that recently re-colored Killing Joke.

Bill - Actually, the DCU: Stories of Alan Moore trade is slightly more expensive than the Killing Joke HC but it has over 200 pages more content so that's to be expected. BUT! There is actually a 2006 edition of the trade and an earlier edition but only the 2006 edition contains the Killing Joke and I believe the Man of Tomorrow, which where left out of the earlier edition.

Back in the 80s Alan Moore couldn't write a bad story to save his life. The best comics I've ever read.
