After releasing the magazine yesterday, I've been overwhelmed with nothing but positive emails and comments and want to thank everyone for taking the time to let me know how much you enjoyed it.This week sees the long awaited Neil Gaiman "Whatever Happened to the Cape Crusader? " Batman issue released and I am giddy with anticipation. The worst part is it's only part one and I'm going to have to wait for the second one to come out!
For other books, we've got Mongul and Arkillo going head to head in GLC, Dracula and Dr Doom on the Moon in Captain Britain and MI13 and Loki pulling everyones' strings in Thor. Should be a great week all around.

Kirk Says: News from NYCC indicates this storyline will have Dracula and Dr Doom on the moon with Captain Britain & MI13 caught in the middle. I couldn't make up something as awesome as that if I tried.

Kirk Says: Mongul seems to be pulling a Darkseid here by enslaving Daxam. I wonder if he'll bring them to a yellow star and turn them into his own army of Supermen, too.
Also, I've been dying to see Arkillo and Mongul go head to head ever since I saw that awesome preview cover from a few months back.

Kirk Says: This renumbering nonsense just to cash in on some extra sales is getting annoying. Thor is a good enough book on its own and doesn't need these kinds of stunts to pull people in, yet they just messed up the run so they could slap a big 600 on the cover. Thor hasn't even appeared in 600 issues. He wasn't in the first 80 or so Journey into Mystery issues. And if you count those first 80, plus the 20 or so JiM issues that continued after Mighty Thor began, the series is well over 600 by now. But, hey, 600, woooo!!! Go team! Let's hike up the price and cash in on a non-existent milestone that few will question!
If the book wasn't as good as it is, I'd probably skip this on principle. Goddamn JMS and Coipel and their awesome comic.

I'm picking up Batman, Superman, Action Comics and Nightwing, along with GLC.
As for Marvel, I'm only picking up Thor, because I'm a major sucker for renumbering, and there's changes to come as Thor will be playing a bigger part in Dark Reign. I'm giving it a shot, at least.
And if you count those first 80, plus the 20 or so JiM issues that continued after Mighty Thor began, the series is well over 600 by now.
Well, it kind of does make sense; true there was no Thor #1, but there was a Thor #480-or-whatever, so picking up where the first volume ended plus the succeeding three adds up.
I'm indifferent to renumbering either way (though I do like the weighty feel of high numbers); as a business practice, if it helps to reboot or renumber, and will get people to buy it, so be it.
Looks like Batman is all I'm getting. Unless Savage Dragon, Invincible or Spawn come out which it doesn't look like they will this week.
Batman looks pretty good, not sure if it will be, but I'm glad to check it out. thanks for getting me interested in this several months back when it was first announced, Kirk.
I'm not sure if I will be picking up Batman. This is my last issue of Thor, as the price goes up to $3.99 next issue.
As much as I love Neil Gaiman's work, it's disappointing to see Qbert on art again. Gaiman's writing deserves somebody a bit more classy. Oh well, who am I kidding, I still want to see either Mike Dringenberg or Dave McKean draw everything Neil writes!
@max - based on what I've seen so far of the issue, I would have loved to see Darwyn Cooke do the art chores in his New Frontier style.
isnt this week the last issues of Nightwing and Robin as well?
anonymous - Ya, they are coming out, but i kind of lost interest in those two titles with the cancellations / relaunch with new names and just stopped picking them up a while back.
