Image Round-Up - November 27th 2013

The Image Round Up column aims to get some words down on Image Comics book published for the week. This weeks reviews are handled by Hansel Moreno. He'll be dropping non-spoilery reviews the day before the books are available so you can best make up your mind on what to buy tomorrow. We offer this service because Image has been putting out some amazing content lately and it will be nice to shine a light on every single title they produce.

Bad Dog #5

LET'S DO THE TIME WARP AGAIIIIN! Blast from the past Bad Dog comes back with absolutely no shame. It's been quite some time since we've seen this on the shelf, so if you are a fan of Todd The Ugliest Kid On Earth this maybe a book you need in your life.

Image has had a revolution since this book first hit the shelves so hopefully the market is more welcoming and long time fans come back to the title.

Joe Kelly opens with an apology and gets over it and moves on to the crazy hijinks I have sorely missed.

Diego Greco get's right to the dirty deeds. The pimp suits look great, the nudity is prevalent and Lou is a true bastard with a heart of gold.


Verdict: Buy it!

Bedlam #10

Reforming a serial killer is no easy task. Working with one is definitely not one for the squeamish. 

Fillmore Press may have been reformed but Bedlam is still far from a peaceful city. As Madder Red he caused havoc on the poor city and his heel turn caused a vacuum that has brought more and more horrors on the populace.

This issues continues the high pace action. Jean-Paul Csuka and Ryan Browne knock it out of (or in as the case maybe) the park. 

"What happen to Madder Red?" has taken a backseat to "Who is Fillmore Press?" and I am happy with what Nick Spencer and team are doing in/to this book.

Verdict: Check it out.

Black Science #1

Black Science lays out all the mistakes a man can make before he loses it all. While the mistakes tally up Matteo Scalera and Dean White beautifully illustrate lush environments and wicked, vicious creatures.

This comic has a strong debut. I don't necessarily connect with the main action scientist but I am extremely curious as to how he handles himself. Will he pull himself up by his bootstraps? Will he accidentally kill himself? Perhaps some fantastic creature will devour him? Or maybe, just maybe his skills and wit will save him.

This comic is Sliders with no camp whatsoever. Hooray for happy accidents!

Verdict: Must Buy!

Well, if only there were more hours in the day I could have given you good people a full list of what Image is setting loose on the world tomorrow. Please consider:

Five Ghosts #7: High seafaring adventure! Sweet swashbuckling adventure you do not want to miss!

Morning Glories #35: Another Nick Spencer title that is holding strong. Joe Eisma is a machine! Paul Little's purple tones please the eye! MGA twists the knife further.

Pretty Deadly #2: Yes, yes, YES. Kelly Sue and Emma keep at it. This issue does not miss a beat. Believe it or not the art is more gorgeous than last time.

Rat Queens #3: Do you lave fun? Do you like Killer Queens? READ THIS ISSUE!

Revival #15: Mike and Tim are creeps. This issue won't make you sleep with all the lights on but it will move the story along nicely.

SAGA #16: Good Lord. If you don't love this series by now I'm not sure how to sell you on it. Space Travel, Action, Humor, Babies, Ghosts, Sex, Aliens. So, so much.
