Also, Brian Clevinger contacted me last night and let me know there was a delay at the printers for Atomic Robo Vol 1 TPB and that it won't be out until June 18th. The contest will run as scheduled, but winners will have to wait an extra week plus shipping time for their prizes.
I've been hinting at this over the past few weeks and today is the day I finally get to proudly announce the Weekly Crisis' first contest. If you haven't guessed by now, what, with the altered site banner and all, the contest has a little something to do with Red 5 Comics' Atomic Robo, a series that dominated the Comic Book Moments of the Week every week it was released and I've had nothing but glowing reviews for.
Well, Atomic Robo is being collected in trade format and set for release on June 11th, as Atomic Robo TPB Volume 1: Atomic Robo & the Fightin' Scientists of Tesladyne, and I've decided to take all of the money I've earned off the occasional Amazon links or ads on the site, and a little out of my own pocket, and put it back into the site to reward you, the readers.
As such, I had intended to give away a single copy of Atomic Robo Vol 1, but I said to myself, "Self, one copy isn't going to cut it for a contest." So, I went out and bought three (!) copies of Atomic Robo Vol 1.
Still, something kept nagging at me and I said to myself, "Self, three copies of Atomic Robo is great and all, but it's still not much of a contest.". Puzzled as to what I could do to make this contest even better, I contacted Brian Clevinger (Nuklear Power, 8-Bit Theater), co-creator and writer of Atomic Robo, and asked him what I could do to spruce this up a bit.
Mr. Clevinger was delighted to hear about the contest and has offered to autograph all three copies of Atomic Robo Vol 1 for the three lucky winners and I said to myself, "Self, now that's what we call a contest!".
As you can see, I'm quite excited about the contest and can't wait to announce the winners come June 11th. If you happen to run a blog or post on some forums, I'd appreciate you letting your readers or fellow forum-goers know about the contest. While this is primarily to reward my readers, the more people that get introduced to a title as great as Atomic Robo, the better.
You can enter by filling out a simple email form with four rather simple multiple choice questions based on Atomic Robo, answers to which you can find in the linked to reviews after the jump along with the full contest details, rules and the entry form.
Please enter your full name, a valid email address and answer the four (4) trivia questions to be eligiable for the contest. It is important the email address be valid as it is the only way to contact you for your shipping information should you win.
Winners Will Receive
- One of Three (3) Atomic Robo TPB Volume 1: Atomic Robo & the Fightin' Scientists of Tesladyne signed by Brian Clevinger, writer and co-creator of Atomic Robo!
- Bragging rights to all your friends!
- The adulation of millions!
- Fame and immortality!
If you have trouble answering the questions, you can find the answers in my reviews and moments of the week related to the Atomic Robo series, which are, conveniently, listed below:

Rules:
- The contest starts on June 1st at 12:00:00 AM and ends on June 11th at 11:59:59 PM. (All times in AST - Atlantic Standard Time - just add one hour to EST)
- One entry per person (filtered by IP Address).
- Multiple entries from the same IP will be disgarded until only the first entry remains. Continual spamming of entries from the same IP will result in complete removal of previous entries and disqualification from the contest and any future contests.
- Contest open to residents of Canada and the continental United States (no Hawaii or Alaska) only. Sorry to anyone that can't participate, but the logistics, shipping fees and desire to keep things simple for the first contest are the only reasons I'm doing it this way for now. In the future, I hope to include other countries.
- Winners will be contacted and asked for their shipping information. Failure to respond within one week will result in your disqualification and a new winner chosen.
- If you have any problems, whatsoever, please feel free to contact me and I'll try to help you in any way I can.
Good luck to all who enter and remember, only one entry per person!
Remember, no duplicate entries! The evil, cybernetic snow bunnies are watching you!

Awesome idea, awesome contest, awesome site. I read your site every day man, it's a lot of fun. Thanks for this contest and for all your updates!
great contest! nice work on the autographs.
Cool contest. Is the site's name change official or will you change it to represent future contests?
Thanks for the kind words guys. Good luck with the contest and look forward to more in the future!
@darin - the banner is only a temporary thing. I'll post something later today clarifying that. It'll depend on what the next contest(s) is about, but I'll probably limit future ones to just changing the Peter Parker image to the title character of anything I give away, like I did with Robo here.
Sadly, It's pushed back to June 18. But I still love the contest!
@bill - Heh, I was actually talking to Brian Clevinger about this earlier and was going to put a post up tomorrow about it. I wasn't sure if I should extend the length of the contest or keep the end date as the 11th and get the winning names in quicker. I'll update tomorrow with a decision.
7:30 am EST and the site displays the simple message "This form can no longer accept submission". I see by the (amzingly still functional even though they removed everything else) link back to Wufoo.com that they only allow 500 entries a month. I'm guessing either you hit that limit harder than iron man landing on his shelby (poor beautiful car) or wufoo just doesn't like you. In any event, will the submission form be coming back up, or will there be another method for entering the contest?
Hey guys, sorry for the form mess up. I was so excited about running this I didn't even pay attention to the rather small limit on the applications for Wufoo. It should be working fine now, so have it her!
just wanted to say thanks for the contest. Way awesome of you and Brian Clevinger to do it.
@mrpeepants - Yeah, I was quite pleased when Brian offered to sign the trades for me. It's a shame I couldn't get Scott (the artist) involved.
I'm sure he would have loved to sign them for everyone, as well, but he's no where near Brian, in terms of location, and it would have been more complicated and more of a burden on Brian to have him ship the trades across the country to Scott and then force him to ship them to the winners or to me so that I could do it.
I was already imposing enough as it was and I decided to keep the shipping costs down and buy the extra trade to have Brian sign instead of opting for less trades and more signatures.
Maybe when Volume 2 comes out and after I get a little more experience runnign these contests I'll try and get them both to sign the next trade (assuming they'd still be open to the signings).
So, while I'm giving a lot of credit to Brian, it is a two man operation and the book wouldn't be the same without the wonderful art from Scott and I'm a little sad I couldn't afford to get him involved in this. He deserves just as much praise as Brian is getting for the kind offer to sign the trades.
