ACTION COMICS #866
"Superdickery's got nothing on Clarkdickery."
I'm sure everyone's heard of
Superdickery by now. Well, this is a prime example of
Clarkdickery. I wonder what Clark would have done if Lombard had broken his back falling from the chair like that? Pretty dickish move for Mr. Truth, Justice and all that jazz. Pretty funny, too.
"You're from another planet, Clark."
Clark has more willpower than I do. Even if he's married, I can't see how he maintained eye contact here.
BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL #18
"He better be looking..."
The facial expressions in this issue were amazing. I honestly don't think the book would have been half as much fun without MacGuire's facial expertise. It's a little blurred, but I loved the last text box line about Batgirl being "not paralyzed".
"What would Batman do? Words to live by."
Now I just want to see Batman confronted by a puppy dog just to see if he'd punch it in the face. Would he need prep time for that?
BOOSTER GOLD #10
"Damn you blackboards!"
ARGH, another blackboard to drive me insane thinking about. Perfect Peter Platinum must be related to the One Million issue, as that was Booster's One Million incarnation if I'm not mistaken.
Jean Paul Valley lives seems pretty self explanatory. I'm guessing the, "That's not him!", relates to the supposed new Azrael that's rumoured to show up in Manhunter.
"Why Captain Atom? Why?", could have a couple of meanings. Why did he become Monarch or why did the rogue Monitor target him in the first place.
The Libra comment is probably referring to Aquaman, who's a prince of Atlantis and carries a sword these days.
The rest seem self explanatory, but it's always fun reading and trying to piece together these things.
"A mind is a terrible thing to waste."
This caught me by surprise in how much sense it makes for him to show up in Booster's time travelling title post-52. Not shown here, but Skeets starts trembling and stuttering when Mr. Mind was revealed.
"Consider it my excrement."
F*** yeah, Skeets! Skeets stole the show in this month's issue. Comedy, action, drama - he did it all and this was probably the best scene as he "exrements" all over Maximillion.
CAPTAIN BRITAIN & MI 13 #2
"Dr Zommamu McCrabfoot has arrived."
I thinks I'm going to have to start buying Captain Britain & MI 13. Everything I read and see about it is awesome.
GOTHAM UNDERGROUND #9
"Pimps up, hoes down!"
Just a couple pages of a great Riddler / Penquin chat.
"President of the Robin Fan-Club."
This was a bit of a running gag in the series as Gordan berated Robin about his sneaking skills everytime he came to see him. Never underestimate the sneakiness.
GREEN LANTERN CORPS #25
"Don't trust anyone with freaky scars on their face. It's just good advice in any situation."
This page followed up on an emotional outburst by Arisia and Yat calming her down in what looks like a continuation of their budding romance plot. I assumed this Zamaron page with the Guardians referred to her emotions going wild, but the planet they are watching doesn't look the same and I'm not sure what sector the GL's are currently in. Still, we get more Blackest Night developments in GLC every month than the main Green Lantern title. I'm not complaining, but that's just not right if you ask me.
INVINCIBLE #25
"Hmm...freaky face scar. Wonder if I should trust him?"
This backup story with Cecil turned him from a generic government agent abusing power into a character I could sympathize with. It really made me look at the entire issue in a new light.
"Na, I'm pretty sure my original advice on facial scars still stands."
I seriously thought Mark was going to go all Angstrom on Cecil here. He looks downright pyscho and the way he ripped those robots apart had me thinking Cecil's head was going to be separated from his body in the next few seconds. Mark opted to ram him into a wall and tell him to leave him alone.
"It's about time."
Man, it seems like these two should have been hooked up long ago. All I can say is, it's about time.
"It's a me, Mario!"
I didn't even notice Mario Galaxy playing in the background of this image until it was brought up online. Me am slow like that.
WONDER WOMAN #21
"I think we need a bigger boat."
I'm pretty sure we all expected Alkyone to survive after jumping over the cliffs and into the water at the end of The Circle, but I was still surprised at how quickly she was confirmed to be living. I liked her character, but she seemed to be out of her league against Wonder Woman. Maybe some form of power up is in store for her?

Action Comics was pretty funny. There were lots of great scenes. I loved the tattoo one.
You really should be picking up Cap Britain, it is a wonderful book.
Its great to see that Alkyone hasn't been forgotten. She is a great character and a perfect villain for Diana.
Who is writing Action Comics these days? That scene may as well have been an outtake from any of the cheesy late-70s/early-80s Superman movies. Still funny, just sooo reminiscent...
@eric - I'm really thinking I should be reading Captain Britain. It's just I have no clue who any of the characters are. I know Pete Wisdom by name and name alone. I can't recall a single comic with him in it or if he even has powers. I'm just kind of iffy on whether I can actually get into the book or if I'll be lost.
@pop! goe sthe icon - Geoff Johns, writer of JSA, Green Lantern, etc, is the current writer of Action Comics.
He's a very continuity and Silver Age oriented writer and he just finished a run with Richard Donner, of the old Superman movies fame, and he seems to be channeling a lot of the old Superman movies mojo for this run.
The "new" characters in that scene are old time Superman characters and I think Mrs Grant was around in the 90's. He seems to have taken some inspiration from Grant Morrison's All Star Superman, too, which featured these characters recently, if I'm not mistaken.
Yeah, that's Catherine "cat" Grant, one of those post-Crisis John Byrne inventions from the mid/late-80s. Interesting to see her returned to her blatantly hussy-ish roots. I haven't read anything with Superman even near it save for Morrison's All*Star in about 15 years ...
I have never actually read anything with any of the character from Cap Britain in it. Cornell does a good job of explaining things, though he does kind of skip over a few things in the second issue, but its not absolutely important that you know.
"The Libra comment is probably referring to Aquaman, who's a prince of Atlantis and carries a sword these days."
I'm pretty sure the Libra comment would be referring to the Libra character that Morrison's got running around in the Final Crisis stuff, what with his name actually being Libra.
As for Captain Britain, I too have no clue who hardly anyone is in that book, but I still really enjoy it. The 2nd issue was a bit lighter on the awesome than the first issue (which was fantastic), but it was still an excellent read. I definitely would recommend you at least grab the first issue and see if you like it.
Some more prime examples of 'Clarkdickery'.

@eric - Well, the first two issues are sold out at my shop. I may just wait for the first trade for CBMI13.
@dru - I meant that the "Prince" to fall on his sword is Aquaman. I assume Libra will be killing him or somehow involved and probably shouldn't have left that little detail out of my comment. I didn't mean that Libra, the name, is referring to Aquaman. Just that little blackboard note.
@salieri - I'm going to have to see about finding a way to expand the comments window. Links are always getting cut off for some reason.
Here's his links for those that can't click them.

It takes more to impress him, he's always hanging around with Power Girl.
I don't get my comics until the weekend, so I'm late to the party, but I think Dr Zommamu McCrabfoot's feet are from Urthona. (He ruined Dr. Strange's day at least once.) Pretty high-powered jerk.
I just wish Doc himself could help out...
