Comic Book Moments of the Week for 12/19/07

Sorry for the delay in getting these moments out today. My brother came home for Christmas and some catching up and what not made it difficult to get the time to do these. However, I didn't let that stop me. So, without further ado, hit the jump for this week's Comic Book Moments of the Week and make sure to check back tomorrow for a special year end post!

MIGHTY AVENGERS #6

"It's still there."

This was the one shining moment in this week's Mighty Avengers. I thought Tony's reaction was hilarious and it's definitely the first thing I'd check if I ever found myself genetically engineered into a female Ultron robot body.

NEW X-MEN #45

"You were dead the second you touched Julian Keller."

Well, I guess this outright confirms Laura's undying love for Hellion. This was a pretty badass fight and this issue was the best part of Messiah Complex so far.

"How many times has Caliban died exactly?"

Nothing like a cheap, pointless death, which we know won't last. Hellion had worse wounds than this and survived, yet I suppose Caliban will take the ol' dirt nap. I don't particularly care for the character, but putting him on X-Force just so they could have a motivational death didn't exactly make me care about this. Still, Warpath's sword through the Purifier's face was awesome.

WWH AFTERSHOCK: WARBOUND #1

"Hulk only slightly SMASH!"

Miraculously surviving Hulk's curb stomping, Miek shows up alive and as well as could be expected in this week's Warbound issue. Looks like SHIELD has him in a regenerative tank of some sort and are pumping him for information on the Warbound.

DETECTIVE COMICS #839

"WTF DC, WTF?"

This is the ending to the 'epic' Return of Ra's al Ghul event. Everyone has a few laughs as they celebrate Christmas. Nightwing had a line of dialogue in this issue to the effect of "Why do we even get together every year for these events? It's not like we have fun or anything.". It's not an exact quote, but I'm asking myself that very same question after this conclusion to this year's event.

THE ORDER #6

"Parapalegic you dumb bug. I can't feel that."

Supernaut shows he's more than just a suit of armour after SHADOW shocks his suit out of commission. With his partner down and out, he takes on the giant bugs with his barehands. Well, a giant rock helped, too, but dude was kicking ass and taking names, even with no use of his legs.

BATMAN & THE OUTSIDERS #3

"Do you like fan service? No. I mean, yes."

I guess Batgirl wanted to make up for putting the beat down on Thunder at the end of last issue by giving the resident lesbians on the Outsiders a little show as Cassandra grabbed a glass of OJ before heading back to her room. I'm not sure if this version of Batgirl is better or worse than the evil one. On one hand, she's nekkid. On the other, she still doesn't seem like the same character from the Batgirl series.

CABLE BROTHER VOODOO & DEADPOOL #48

"By the onion rings of Burger King!"

This scene is my personal favourite from this week. Soon as I got to this page, I knew it was my moment of the week. Deadpool's soul has broken off into bunch of different Avengers and they all have hilarious dialogue. Dr Strange and Blackbolt versions are my favourite though.

IMMORTAL IRON FIST #11

"Davos VS Tiger's Beautiful Daughter"

This battle is brutal and deadly and looks to be over after Daughter slices Davos' hand off.

"Steel Phoenix Blow (First Execution)"

Okay, losing a hand only seems to have pissed Davos off and he literally punches the clothes off Daughter as he nearly slaughters her before Thunderer stops the fight. Davos gets the Weekly Crisis kung-fu seal of approval for this issue.

"What's in the box?"

I was expecting a scene out of Se7en for this box scene as Hogarth receives his 'reward' for completing Hydra's train on time. Looks like even Hydra can get in on the Christmas giving based on how this played out.

In reference to that bs Detective Comics issue and the entire Ressurection of Ra's Al Ghul, a lot of people gave Amazons Attack a lot of well deserved flack, but this story was just as bad if not worse....
