Comic Book Moments of the Week for 12/11/13

Welcome to a somewhat festive Moments of the Week! The books inside might not all have that holiday cheer, but it's the thought that counts. We'll be checking out the new series of Justice League 3000, we see what happens to those who make Doom cry in Superior Foes of Spider-Man, the terrigan wave makes its way to Uncanny X-Men, and a sight update on what you get the man who has everything in Superman/Wonder Woman. More after the jump as always.

Astro City #7

A new way to tarnish Winged Victory's reputation, that all her enemies were actually trained and paid by her women's outreach group to further her message. This issue also finally reveals Vic's origin, as a women who left her cheating boyfriend found her way to Greece due to the dreams she experienced:

Only now even the Council believes the rumors spread about her fighting crime. To be continued.

Batman #26

Turns out Bruce, in his younger days (the day of his parents murder, exactly) was busted by Gordon for skipping school. And all the sense of justice he though Gordon embodied went away when he saw and still sees that coat. They've had a really rough beginning to their relationship.

Justice League #25

Plastic Man's origin. Only it's in the present, despite seeing him as a potential candidate for the JLI way back in JLI #1 two years ago. That's a pretty big lack of fact checking. After Owlman's consolidated the gangs under his control, he tries to speak with Dick about joining him.

Everyone betrays everyone.

Justice League 3000 #1

So a thousand years in the future, these bickering heroes are actually Cadmusworld clones of the original Justice League, only without the key pieces of their memory in tact, like Superman's conscience, or Batman's drive to avenge his parents death. It's not as bwa-hah-hah as Giffen and DeMatteis' other Justice League work but there's a greater story being told here, probably to tie back into the Legion of Superheroes.

Manifest Destiny #2
Lewis and Clark continue onwards into America, looking to make contact with Ft. Charette, and discover the "Minotaur" they came across was actually a baby. Good thing there's always more monsters out there:

Poor Karp. The fort and it's village are completely desolate, leading to more confusion by the expeditionary crew. And I'm sold on this story.

Superior Foes of Spider-Man #6

Doom's just going to kill you and take his money back, because you saw his face, bro. The other member of the Sinister Six were busy being captured by Owlman, but then a cold slab of a reveal is dropped:

 I don't see the resemblance.

Superman/Wonder Woman #3

The JLA is first on the scene to deal with Zod, but Superman and Wonder Woman arrive to subdue him. Turns out he's rather pleasant and was just crazy from a side effect from the dimension hopping:

So like everything else Superman puts Zod in his Fortress Zoo until he knows what to do with him. Now comes the Christmas part:

Turns out the flash drive Cat Grant received contained all the information about Superman and Diana's relationship. A Festivus miracle!

Three #3

I'm beginning to think Klaros isn't really a Helot....

Ouch, that's cold.

Uncanny X-Men #15.INH

So the girls go shopping in London, just as a somewhat familiar Bendis creation appears from a terrigenesis cocoon:

Geldhoff is then captured by AIM, as he has the power to short out your nervous system. I maybe wrong, but wasn't there another Geldhoff in the regular universe somewhere in Bendis' Avengers run?

Unity #2

Ninjak, Harada, Eternal Warrior and Livewire are aboard Aric's alien ship, looking to take away a portion of his arsenal, but it's being controlled by the suit. While the others fight Aric, Livewire attempts to use her powers to fight the suit in the cyberworld:

That might not work out so well, considering all the others who have tried to wear the suit. But this issue, unity really did work out!

I like the twist between Bruce and Gordan's early relationship. Really enjoying Year Zero.

Those early issues of the New 52 were when they were still building this new continuity. Plastic Man for the JLI can be easily retconned away.

Well JL 3000 is taking place in the future of the main DC Earth, while Legion of Super-Heroes was changed to be the future of Earth 2. We've seen a different Legion in the pages of Morrison's run on Action Comics, so it'd be interesting to see them show up.

We know Zod is evil from his Villain's Month issue, so his calm demeanor won't last. Love how Daniels' art looks.

Yes, Geldoff was a 616 character in Avengers: The Initiative #8 post-Civil War.

I've been surfing on-line greater than three hours today, but I by
no means discovered any interesting article like yours. It's beautiful price sufficient for me.
In my opinion, if all site owners and bloggers made good content material as
you probably did, the web can be a lot more useful than ever
before.|
