Cover of the Week - Fearless Defenders and Winter Soldier

Let's finish this week off with our picks for Cover of the Week.  This time around, we've a couple of protectors who know not the power of horror and a frosty infantryman exploding off the page.  Grab that jump to see these, along with our honourable mentions!

Ken's Cover of the Week - Fearless Defenders #5 by Mark Brooks

Ken: Fearless Defenders has had the most original covers of any book in the past few months. We've had some homages to Street Fighter before, but this just looks so much better. Valkyrie vs. She Hulk, and all the character select pieces were drawn as opposed to just taking the pictures from prior issues. Cool, cool, cool.

Grant's Cover of the Week - Winter Soldier #19 by Declan Shalvey

Grant: I usually like to post covers without all the dress that companies plaster all over them, but this is one of the best examples of actually using the cover image instead of just covering it up.  I love how the explosion that's sending Bucky flying is messing up the Winter Soldier title.  Ditto for the smaller explosion and the breaking "The Explosive Finale!"  It's a little on the nose, but it's nice to see the cover and dress in some kind of harmony here.  Plus, it helps that Declan Shalvey has arted the hell out of this cover.  Seriously, cover dress or no, this looks gorgeous.

Runner-Ups:  Dial H #13, East of West #3, Savage Dragon #188
