It's time for your weekly taste of Post Crisis Comic Book Previews! I'm looking at a slightly reduced number of comics this week, but they're all quite thrilling - each one more so than the last, in fact! BATWOMAN #12

• J.H. WILLIAMS III returns as artist on this new story!
• An adventure of epic proportions begins here, with BATWOMAN and the werebeast zealot, ABBOTT, hot on the trail of the urban legend BLOODY MARY. The trail leads to a twisted carnival and an abandoned HALL OF MIRRORS, where they face nightmarish versions of themselves…
• Batwoman seeks an unexpected ally: WONDER WOMAN!
Grant: I am terribly excited for more J.H. Williams III drawn Batwoman. Trevor McCarthy has been a pretty decent fill-in for his past few issues, but Williams' phenomenal art is a big part of why I pull this book on a monthly basis. I'm obviously still thrilled that Williams and Blackman have been doing such a good job on writing duties, but the art is what gets this book in my hands. Cannot wait.
BUTCHER BAKER RIGHTEOUS MAKER #8

Just when things couldn't get any weirder? Just when the nightmare couldn't get any darker? Just when it you thought it was safe to go back in the comic book store, it's the newest issue of BUTCHER BAKER! This issue: The envelope is finally pushed to the breaking point!
BUTCHER BAKER IS THE BOMB BETWEEN YOUR LEGS!
Grant: Whoa, I had kind of forgotten about Butcher Baker - especially because this wasn't actually on the August solicitation lists that I initially saw. To be honest, I kind of figured that Joe Casey and Mike Huddleston's trippy book would simply end without ending, but if we can actually get a concluding issue, that's pretty alright by me! Casey's writing is pretty out there, to say the least, and Huddleston's art is the perfect compliment. It's been so long that I don't quite remember what the heck's going on anymore, but that won't stop me from being excited about this issue.
SAGA #6

The epic hit series continues, as Alana and her baby finally reach the legendary Rocketship Forest, where everything changes forever.
Grant: Part of me still has a hard time believing that Saga is actually coming out. After Brian K. Vaughan being gone from comics for so long, having him come back with such an amazing series is all kinds of wonderful. Especially when he's chosen the fabulous Fiona Staples as his artistic collaborator. She's doing a bang-up job with everything Vaughan is throwing her way, and I'm always excited to see what's next. My only reluctance here: why is it only Alana and her baby that have finally reached the Rocketship Forest? Where's Izabel? More importantly, where's Marko? Here's hoping that's just an oversight and not a spoirlerrific solicit by Image.
WONDER WOMAN #12

• WONDER WOMAN faces a choice: Defend ZEUS’S throne from APOLLO – or defend her closest friend!
• Plus: Zola gives birth to something completely unexpected!
Grant: Oh, Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chaing's Wonder Woman. You're kind of the best. The direction they've taken for Diana is unlike any I've encountered before, but it's worked so well. And despite my dislike of DC's awful solicitations, this one actually gets me more excited for the coming issue. I'm eager to see Wonder Woman deal with that dilemma, and while that second part sounds kind of gross, I'm intrigued as to what Zola will give birth to. See also: I love this Cliff Chiang cover. It's gorgeous, as per the norm, but I also love how Wonder Woman is the active character in this image, wrapping her arm around Apollo and laying a big kiss on him. It's also interesting considering the two have been at odds with each other thus far. Colour me intrigued.
The number of books I'm pulling down this week isn't quite the sheer volume that it has been of late, but every single book on this list is of the highest quality. I simply cannot wait to fly through these issues to enjoy their stellar writing and gorgeous art. What do you have on deck this week? Anything you've been particularly impatient for? ROGER LANGRIDGE'S SNARKED! #11

Grant: Whoa, whoa, whoa! What the heck do they mean by "penultimate issue"?! Are you telling me that Snarked! is coming to an end?! In only two more issues?! This is criminal! The book just won a freakin' Eisner! How can it be ending in two issues? I'm guessing it's cause it was always planned for twelve (thirteen with issue #0), but having less Roger Langridge in your life is never a good thing! If this solicitation tells true, I hope Langridge comes back with something else in the very near future! In the meanwhile, I'll enjoy whatever amount of Snarked! we have remaining.

Batwoman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman from DC. Green Lantern is very close to being cut.
Butcher Baker from Image. I should be reading Saga, and probably Walking Dead, but not yet.
Daredevil and Uncanny X-force from Marvel. Might be picking up X-Factor, and ASM sometime soon. Waiting for Marvel NOW! to finish announcements.
