Moment of the Day - Putting an Hour to Good Use
Solo #7 (Michael Allred), by Michael and Laura Allred
SOLO was the quasi-anthology title where DC allowed artists to tell stories with and without DC characters, and Mike Allred shows us how Hourman is jonesing for another hit, but actually of the criminal kind. Each page gets the nine panel treatment, and by the end of the story Superman couldn't have done any better in helping citizens. If you find this in your shop, I really recommend you pick it up.

Did you happen to see the Solo discussion series that Sean Witzke and Matt Seneca started on Comics Alliance yesterday? The combination of that article and this MotD are really making me want to track down those back issues.
This story was reprinted last year as part of the "DC Comics Presents Teen Titans" 100-page Spectacular. It even had the Wonder Girl Bat-tusi cover. The first part was the Teen Titans "Lost Annual" by Bob Haney that Mike Allred Inked & Laura colored. The second half appears to be the whole Allred "Solo" issue material, can someone confirm? It included: An Hour with Hourman, "Doom Patrol vs Teen Titans, Batman A-Go-Go, Fourth World Wager, Comic Book Clubhouse, a Metal Men pin-up by the Allreds and the Solo intro page with Bizzaro and Bizzaro Lois Lane. Anything missing?
Anyway, I think there's one sitting on the shelf at my LCS, and maybe yours too - all for just $7.99! (or 4.99 at comixology). It's a bargain either way.
It's just a nice coincidence, I picked up the Solos in a cheap bundle a few weeks back and finally got through some of them.
The Tim Sale, Paul Pope and Mike Allred ones are the most traditional superhero of them all, with the other creators having more stand alone experimental stories that might not be up your alley if you're looking for DC heroes. This is definitely a series that should reappear with the DCnU.
Joctus, I can confirm that, it's all in this Solo issue, thanks for letting us know it's available online, now I really recommend this to anyone who loves Allred's work.
