Post-Crisis Previews for 04/25/12

After two weeks of travel, I am back home and ready to get back on track here at the Weekly Crisis, starting of course, with your Post-Crisis Previews!  While the two weeks that I missed were rather heavy with titles, I'll be closing out April on a light note, intending as I am to pick up only a handful.  Fortunately, this handful includes such quality titles as American Vampire and Daredevil, so I feel pretty good about that.  So I invite you to hit the jump to check out the titles I'll be getting and my thoughts on 'em!

AMERICAN VAMPIRE #26

Calvin Poole survived the “Ghost War” in the Pacific, but he returns to America with a secret: He’s now an American vampire like Skinner and Pearl! And when he travels to a small town in Alabama to see his brother, he learns he’s not the only one with a secret. The 2-part tale“The Nocturnes,” starts with incredible guest-artist Roger Cruz!

Grant: I'm not going to lie to you, but after the awful Beast in the Cave arc (no, I'm not going to let that go anytime soon), anytime I see Scott Snyder working on an issue of the main American Vampire book without Rafael Albuquerque, I get a little worried.  I don't know all that much about this Roger Cruz fellow (read: I know nothing), but I will remain cautious about this issue's quality despite how promising this solicitation looks.  A quick Google search of Cruz's work looks promising, but I will not make any judgments until I have the issue in my hands!

Grant: So with all the travelling I've been doing these past few weeks, I haven't actually read a single part of this three issue storyarc.  Hopefully it's been good, because I have all the issues waiting for me in my pull box at my local comic book shop, and this one will be there this Wednesday.  Seeing as it's involved the creative talents of Greg Rucka, Mark Waid, and Marco Checchetto, I'm not terribly worried.  In fact, I must say I'm rather excited to be able to read all three issues through in quick succession.  Should be fun.

FLASH #8

The Flash gets pulled into the Speed Force that gives him his super-speed powers…and he learns he’s not alone in there! Introducing Turbine, a prisoner of the Speed Force who just wants out – even if it means trading places with The Flash!

Grant: After last month's issue, I'm back on the Flash bandwagon for the moment.  This Turbine character seems mighty interesting, and it's mighty hard to argue with that cover.  As long as Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato can keep pushing the supporting storylines while continuing the main narrative, I'll keep this one in my pull pile.





ROGER LANGRIDGE'S SNARKED! #7

Grant: This book continues to be the most fun.  Roger Langridge continues to produce something special month in and month out.  If you aren't reading this at this point, I must admit that I'm a little disappointed in you.  Fortunately, you can start picking this guy up at any time, and what better time than the present?


And there we are!  My final purchases for what's probably been a great month of comics (I'll admit it's a little hard to know when you've only read the first week's worth).  I'm definitely looking forward to checking these titles out.  What do you have your eye on this week?
