Moment of the Day - '90s Costume Week: Spider-Man

Web of Spider-Man #100, by Terry Kavanagh and Alex Saviuk

Spidey seems to have an outfit for every day of the week now, but in the 90's, not so much. So when this appeared it really stood out, even if it did last all of one issue (and then only about ten pages). This was armor Peter made in a lab in about half an hour, in order to fight the New Enforcers, which were extreme and radical and pretty much the worst parts of the '90s. Outside of an action figure, I think the only other time this was referenced was as an alternate costume for Spidey in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.

So this thing basically had MORE appearances outside of comics than it ever did inside of them? How strange...

I had/still have this toy somewhere in my archives from back then! :D I remember it came with a little shield and I thought it was so cool when my folks gave it to me! :)

I was 11 or 12 at the time, just the right age to enjoy all these 90's costume changes. I remember wondering why the hell didn't Spider-Man just use this costume all the time.
