Cover of the Week - New Mutants and Conan the Barbarian

It's that time of the week, everyone.  If you've been waiting to see where our thoughts on the Covers of the Week lie, well, we've got you covered!  Terrible puns aside, we invite you to hit the jump to see some X-goodness and some barbaric art, along with our honourable mentions!

Ken's Cover of the Week
- New Mutants #37 by Kris Anka

Ken: Subtle but strong coloring really makes this work, a week before Valentine's Day too, so it synced up nicely. It just gives the right tone of the book inside, which was a nice done in one date story. I think this is the first cover I've seen from Kris Anka, and it's a nice first impression.

Grant's Cover of the Week - Conan the Barbarian #1 Variant by Becky Cloonan

Grant: This is one attractive looking cover.  From a purely aesthetic perspective, it's absolutely gorgeous.  Conan looks all heroic on his seafaring vessel, and the Queen of the Black Coast looks as foreboding and seductive as the comic depicts her to be.  In fact, I really appreciate how the cover figuratively represents the story within the comic.  It's obviously a Conan book, which is why he's featured in the "slit" portion, but his obsession with the Queen is represented quite elegantly with her physical presence on the page.  Great stuff!

Runner-Ups:  Demon Knights #6, Deadpool #50, Last of the Greats #5
