Warren Ellis on The Freakangels Model

Famed author and Internet superstar Warren Ellis was sharing some information and thoughts on digital models. Among them, he gave some information on the readership to his and Paul Duffield's webcomic FreakAngels. Those are some pretty astonishing numbers to be honest, and most other webcomics would probably to have such a high percentage of purchasers of their collections.

It goes to show you that if you build it they will come, even if it's free online. What I am really wondering though, is how many of those webcomic readers are also buying the collection, and how many of those buyers don't even bother checking online at all. That would make for an interesting comparison between the gap of the two types of readers.

In Pullquotes, we present a quote and related imagery, to provide a source of discussion and/or thought among our readers. Feel free to comment on the above image.

I read Freakangels myself, but haven't bought any of the collections. I've enjoyed the story enough to say it's worth purchasing, but I just have enough stuff to buy as-is without also paying money for stuff I already can get for free. I'm glad the model seems to be working out for them though.
