The first week of May brings us hammers instead of flowers for this version of Moments of the Week. We've got Fear Itself showing up to scare us, the Secret Six gang is still hanging out in hell, the Annihilators go camping in another dimension, fourth wall hijinks in Doom Patrol, and Spider-Man decides to annoy Paladin in Heroes for Hire. All that and more after the jump.
Annihilators #3
The
Annihilators head into Limbo with the
Wraith Queen in order to bring them back to our galaxy, otherwise the black sun will destroy Galador. The Wraith Queen had betrayal on her mind but her people are sick and tired of her. And on top of it
Immortus' army shows up to mess with our alpha-class heroes.
They're back! Where is the
Skrull Kill Krew when you need them...
Axe Cop: Bad Guy Earth #3
This is 100% accurate for every comic death ever.
The crazy gets turned up to 11 here. Axe Cop Lava Bull gives you wings!
Doom Patrol #22
So you've got a team as wacky as Doom Patrol, but the series is getting the axe due to low sales and Flashpoint is coming up. You also have Ambush Bug showing up in the book every now and then. What better way to end the series than by breaking the fourth wall? Might as well have some fun on the way out.
Fear Itself #2
Four of the seven
Worthy make their appearance this issue (the last one there is
Attuma). The hammers possess whoever picks them up, and
Absorbing Man's hammer will be found in the pages of
Iron Man 2.0, with
Grey Gargoyle showing up in
Invincible Iron Man. Next issue the
Thing will round out the group, since a hammer decided to show up at Yancy St., but Johnny probably put it there as a prank. All this chaos is happening on Earth while
Odin is busy building what is essentially his own version of
Warworld to prepare for a final battle with
the Serpent.
Heroes for Hire #6
That's a low blow, Misty. This is a good jumping on point for the series, as everything you need to know is explained by the banter between Spider-Man, Paladin, and Misty Knight. Oh, and Batroc shows up too for some hardcore parkour, what's not to like?
Secret Six #33
It's good to know that Catman's mother is actually living out her version of heaven, and that Thomas' father gets his just desserts every day.
The team stands up to Lady Blaze after being offered a shot at being lords of hell with Ragdoll, and she gives them a pass back to the surface world. Blaze is hinting at Scandal's current stripper girlfriend, who is still being held captive by that crazy guy looking to deprogram her from a life of sin.
Superboy #7
It's basically a dream issue where Superboy is being affected by a Red Mercy, an offshoot of the dream inducing Black Mercy. The Luthor side of Superboy took over and he and Simon killed almost every hero on earth. Tim always gets some of the cooler alternate universe costumes out of anyone in the DC Universe.
X-Men: Prelude to Schism #1
An issue of Xavier basically reminiscing on Cyclops' life since he joined the X-Men, and how he's gone above and beyond his expectations. There is some unseen big threat appearing that is worrying the team on Utopia, though it's not quite clear if this is whatever will happen in Schism proper or just a generic threat to allow Scott and Charles time to talk to each other.

Wow surprised about Titana being one of the worthy...but some of these choices are kinda lame. Grey Gargoyle seems alright but I'm tired of Absorbing Man, I would've rather seen one of the good guys besides Hulk & Grimm being chosen like say Spidey,Luke,WOlverine, or Cyclop
Speaking of Cyke, I thought Schism was supposed to be about the rift between Cyclops and Wolverine? Talk about false advertising if it turn to be just some big threat that they disagree and how to go about taking out
The Doom Patrol was great at the very end as well. "Next Issue: Oh. Right. Never mind."
People still read X-Men?
it seems like 10 years or more since I read the last X-Men comic... i remember that professor Xavier was in a wheels chair, has he recovered and can walk without cyberprotesis like Arsenal, Bucky ??? Sorry but been a little away from x men for years.

Wish you guys put up King Shark's version of hell. Everyone gets violently confronted by their relatives and King Shark's hell is going to a restaurant w/o meat!
Am I the only one who doesn't get the appeal of Axe Cop? Yeah, I know, a 6-year old boy writes it, quite impressive, but...really?
