Cover of the Week - Captain America and Crossbones & Loki

Welcome to Cover of the Week. This edition is taken over by the bad guys, as two villains take all the spotlight and the win this week. Hit the jump to see the winning covers.

Ryan L.'s Covers of the Week - Captain America and Crossbones #1 by Greg Tocchini

Ryan L.: What can I say. I love me some Crossbones. The guy as a great look but here Tocchini captures the insane vibe about him that makes him so interesting. This is how you should picturre the character whenever you think about him. Wild eyed and firing guns right at you. I also have to point out the background because it works. It's almost got this faux-flag thing going on but it doesn't detract from the main focus.

As for Greg Tocchini. I first stumbled across him with his Rick Remender collaboration at Radical Comics, The Last Days of American Crime. He seems to be getting a fair bit of Marvel work lately, with the Kelly Sue DeConnick written Secret Avengers Cap one-shot illustrated by him entirely. And I think that's great, his style is fine.

Matt's Cover of the Week - Loki #4 by Travel Foreman

Matt: Funny thing about this cover, but I've already chosen it once for Cover of the Week. Why? Because I was looking at the Marvel catalog that incorrectly listed this book as coming on the wrong day. Anyway, here's what I said the last time around:
Who would have thought that Japanese-style art and Norse mythology would mix so well? Foreman creates a great image here, eerie and powerful. The use of negative space is quite interesting too. All in all, a very strong cover.
Runner-Ups: Batman #708, The Last Phantom #5, Uncanny X-Men Annual #5
