Hype Machine - Bucko

Many of you would know the name of Jeff Parker. He writes for Marvel, currently penning Thunderbolts and Hulk. Many of you possibly don't know the name of Erika Moen but she's a great webcomic artist. Yeah, that's right, webcomics, and this Hype Machine looks at a new webcomic just about to launch. It's called Bucko and you need to add this site to your feedreader and enjoy the show.

What Is Bucko?

There really isn't too much to say about Bucko, just yet. This webcomic by Jeff Parker and Erika Moen is going to kick off on Tuesday, February the 1st. But if I'm going to say anything I might as well let the site speak for itself.

I liked Parker describing it on the Word Balloon podcast as he said what would happen if you explosively had to go to the bathroom and you found a dead body in there? Does that mean you no longer really have to go to the toilet? Think about it.

This is all I've really seen about this webcomic and yet I'm completely in. I trust Jeff Parker as a writer and I like Moen's art style. Parker is writing Thunderbolts and Hulk really well right now but he's also done good work on the fan-favourite Atlas comics at Marvel, as well as Underground from Image. I think this could, and should, be a very fun comic to check out and since it hasn't started yet this is your chance to get in on the ground floor.

It sounds like a fun project and I appreciate a big time Marvel writer taking some spare time to do a free online comic. You should show them both some love by hitting the site up once the content starts, maybe even write your own blog posts about it, and it probably wouldn't hurt to click the ads on there (you know people make money that way, right?).

Conclusion

I like webcomics. I don't read all of them but I check out ones that seem to be aimed for me and I often find some insanely high quality content floating around for free. Only time will tell if this comic proves to be as good as I want it to be. Hit the site up and check it out this week: Bucko.

In croatian language Bucko means Chubby. Funny, wonder if Parker knows that?

Anyway, the premise sounds very good, I'll check it out.

So far, I've enjoyed it, but there are some minor issues with the panels and speech bubbles where at first it may be hard to see where you are supposed to read next.

Once more, you will find just a lot of things that you do not know or need to know.
