Come April, Marvel will be starting a new title called S.H.I.E.L.D. Written by Jonathan Hickman, it will detail the history of S.H.I.E.L.D. throughout the history of the world. It promises Galileo defeating Galactus, ancient Egyptian polymaths battling Celestials, and names we know from history books doing things we love from comic books. To bring this to life we have Dustin Weaver bringing us all sorts of hard history mixed in with some Hickman infused creativity. He brings us, da Vinci: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Hit the jump to see how Dustin handles some other characters.
Dustin Weaver (livejournal) has managed to keep a relatively low profile away from the insane fanboy hordes, while still setting himself up as an artist to be noticed. He worked on Nation X but he’s also rocked the pages of King Kong and Star Wars. Now he'll be teamed up on S.H.I.E.L.D. for the indefinite future while we see where sales puts the title and how long Hickman will take to tell his story.
For more information on this coming series hit up our Hype Machine from last week where we looked at all of the good reasons why you should be adding this title now to save another gem from being cancelled far before its time.
Or you can just enjoy Weaver's phenomenal art and have a little faith. Enjoy. Leonardo da Vinci, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D

Superhero Leonardo da Vinci FTW.
Caveman Batman could kick Da Vinci's ass.
Nah, maybe Pirate Batman could though. Caveman Batman just can't be prepared for Da Vinci's SCIENCE.
Me and a buddy were discussing this over drinks tonight though. It would be awesome if Da Vinci's designs for his circular tank turned out to be a WMD vehicle used to stave off a Moloid invasion from the underworld under Hickman's pen. DV just rolls his tank up into the entrance tunnel of a cave and proceeds to gun down the 500 strong Moloid scout/strike force, staving off the planned invasion for another few centuries.
Awesome artwork. I saw the solicits in previews last month and I was definitely going to get it.
Weaver's art just makes me anticipate it even more than I already am. Is there another artist who adds as much detail as this man does? He's putting in Darrow-esque levels of detail.
