That means I'll be kicking off 2010 flying solo as I look at five of the week's biggest releases including the Blackest Night/Secret Six tie-in, Suicide Squad #67 and the debut of Marvel's Siege. Ryan: I’ve been a HUGE fan of Josh Howard’s Dead @17 from its inception at Viper Comics, so I won’t be missing this sourcebook. This should be a great introduction to the series for new readers and a strong supplement for longtime fans. My biggest complaint about the recent Afterbirth miniseries was that it wasn’t tremendously accessible to new fans, but I’ve got a good feeling that this will help fix that problem.
RED ROBIN #8Written by Chris Yost

This is it! Red Robin versus the Council of Spiders deep in the heart of the League of Assassins' headquarters. It's seven on one, with Red Robin facing some of the deadliest killers on the planet. Even if he can get out alive, can Tim Drake get out clean? Or has Ra's al Ghul's influence corrupted him? There's a line Batman and Robin swore they'd never cross...but to save Tam Fox's life, Red Robin may have to perform deeds he’s never dared. Plus, Ra's al Ghul's master plan starts to reveal itself.
Ryan: Tim’s demeanor has been getting progressively darker since this series debuted and Chris Yost written him into a position where lines may have to be crossed. This could be a major defining moment for Red Robin, though I suspect Tim will use his wits to avoid heading into Punisher territory. Either way, it should be a fun read with this stellar creative team.
SIEGE #1Written by Brian Michael Bendis

Ryan: Considering the seeds for this story began way back during the infamous Avengers: Disassembled storyline, I’m really surprised by how low-key the hype for this story has been in comparison to Marvel’s previous events, Secret Invasion and Civil War. I try not to miss the big events, but I’m really a little underwhelmed by the premise of this story. However, with the strength of this creative team, I could be pleasantly surprised by how awesome this one turns out to be!
SUICIDE SQUAD #67Written by John Ostrander and Gail Simone

Original SUICIDE SQUAD writer John Ostrander and Gail Simone resurrect The Suicide Squad as they take on BLACKEST NIGHT and the Secret Six! The Fiddler has risen from the dead, and he’s targeting Deadshot and anyone who stands in his way. But someone else has targeted Deadshot – the Suicide Squad! Everything is about to hit the Wall (Amanda Waller, that is) – and this Wall hits back! Continuing this month’s one-issue revival of classic DC Universe titles, this epic story carries into January’s SECRET SIX #17!
Ryan: Despite being part of DC’s “resurrected” titles initiative for January, this week’s Suicide Squad would be more aptly titled “Secret Six #16 ½.” Like every other issue of Secret Six, I’m super excited for this one, especially with John Ostrander returning to the Suicide Squad. His original run is a modern classic and I look for him to bring some of his magic from that series—as well as the magic he worked on Secret Six #15—into this issue.
ULTIMATE COMICS: SPIDER-MAN #6Written by Brian Michael Bendis

Mysterio has had just about enough of Spider-Man, so he sends in the ULTIMATE SPIDER-SLAYER...and sends it right to Peter Parker’s school! All this and the mystery of the Shroud is finally revealed!
Ryan: I had more fun reading Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man than I did almost any other title in 2009, so I’ve got high hopes that this issue will kick-off the New Year right. With things heating up between Spider-Man and Mysterio, plus the reveal of the Shroud’s identity (my money is on Jessica Jones or Kitty Pryde), this could definitely be the book to beat this week!

Only picking up a couple books this week; Suicide Squad 67 from DC, and Siege 1. It's a short week, which is fine following the holidays.
I'm with you on Shroud likely being Kitty (I'm not quite as sure in the Jones option, but eh). I've been guessing that for a few issues now, and it'll be nice to (hopefully) see who it really is.
Though if it is Kitty, that should certainly make for an easy out on the Spider-Slayer, seeing as she shorts out machines. Perhaps that has something to do with the reveal.

Let's get this out of the way immediately - I am SO excited by Suicide Squad # 67 this week!! I hope that it sells tremendously well and that we can look forward to an ongoing Ostrander title later this year. That said...
