Crisis on Infinite Arts - Philip Tan's Thanos
Philip Tan (deviantArt | Twitter) is a relative new comer to comics, breaking in back in 2003 with Marvel with spots on Thor and Uncanny X-Men. He later moved on to Image with a lengthy stint on Spawn before making the jump to DC, instantly making a splash with his work on Final Crisis: Revelations, which led to gigs on Green Lantern and Batman and Robin.
I chose to spotlight Tan's Thanos for the simple reason it looks amazing. Anyone that can make Thanos look that good in his old costume deserves recognition and I say that as an unabashed Thanos fanboy. I've included a couple of random samplings of Tan's art after the jump for those interested in seeing more of his earlier and present work.
X-Men sketch.
A Dr Doom commission.
Orange Lantern construct sketch for Green Lantern Agent Orange storyline.

Damn, he's good. I thought you said you hated his Agent Orange work though Kirk? I was under the impression you didn't like his stuff and you were surprise me with this segment of Infinite arts.
I admit, that Dr Doom and Final Crisis Cover is baller lol. If i only had half the talent >.<
Wow. I've liked a few Tan books, like Godslayer, but I've deen disappointed with Batman and Robin. But that Thanos sketch blew me away.
That last Batwoman piece looks like it could have been done by J.G. Jones. Good stuff.
Also, I will always confuse him with Billy Tan.
I will always confuse him with Instant Tan.
So you don't like Thanos' old costume, Kirk? Time to rename this blog The Fashion Crisis, that outfit is luminous!
@Servando Gomez - I didn't like his work on Agent Orange. It felt rushed and he did some uninspired layouts and practically no backgrounds for later issues in the arc. But he is a good artist and I like many of his commissions and earlier work on things like Final Crisis: revelations, so threw a little spotlight on that.
@Stella McCartney - Ahaha, The Fashion Crisis will be my next blog. It'll be like those snarky People magazine or tabloid things where the editors take pot shots at celebrity fashion, except with super heroes.
@Kirk- Yo Kirk, I see you like that Thanos pic and i'm really happy for you, imma let you finish but that Batwoman cover is the greatest Philip Tan drawing of all time. OF ALL TIME!
@Black Ice: HAHA, too fucking funny.
His painted work looks good, but I dislike his interior work. Agent Orange, FC: Revelations, and the current Batman and Robin arc could not be over any sooner.
Now that is an iconic Thanos!
