IGN Comics posted solicits for Blackest Night related comics in December and the above image accompanied the Green Lantern Corps listing. Cover images are known to lie and we've even seen Hal Jordan as just about every corps member before, so it's not unprecedented, but it's hard not to imagine what could set off Guy's rage that doesn't involve the death (again) of his girlfriend Ice. However, there's more to this Guy Gardner Blackest Night stuff than a simple solicit. Hit the jump to find out more.

Conclusion
Seems likely that whatever role Guy plays in Blackest Night, his stint as a Red Lantern will more than likely be temporary at best. I'm tempted to believe it has something to do with Ice dying, but she'd be on Earth at this point and it would be hard for Guy to confirm her death to push him over the edge like this. Guy has always been kind of a hot head though, so maybe, much like his 'rage' in GLC #39, he just gets emotional over seeing his fellow Green Lanterns back as Black Lanterns. I doubt any one death from anyone but Kyle at this point would be enough to push him into the rage territory, so I'd rule out any deaths being the cause.
What do you think? Is this just a temporary one or two issue change up like it was with Hal? Fake out cover? Something more important, as hinted at in the Booster Gold #2 scan?

Considering that Vril Dox is also becoming a member of the Sinestro Corps over in REBELS, I'm saying temporary stunt while BN lasts.
I like Guy and Ice, for either of them to die would sadden me. Though this is an interesting twist. I doubt it will be permanent or lead to killing off or losing Guy from GLC. After all, he's the crazy one. the crazy ones are the best.
Well, seeing they need the other Corps to work together to defeat Nekron and I don't see Atrocitus helping, perhaps Guy will be the Red Lantern of the Spectrum?
I kind of hope Guy does become a Red Lantern and actually becomes the leader of the Red Lantern Corps once Blackest Night was over as having four Green Lanterns is hard to juggle.
Alright, time to look through all the chalkboard messages in 52 to see if there are any more clues!
well indigo-1 did say a green lantern ring working in conjunction with another ring of light was what 'kills' black lanterns. I wouldn't put it past Guy to skip the middleman and try to work both at the same time...
@Daryll B. - Oh that's pretty good. Hal was unable to work two rings due to conflicting emotions. I wonder if Guy is up to the task.
I think seeing other GLs die at the hands of the BLs could set him off. I don't think he needs Kyle or Ice to die, I mean this is Guy Gardner, it doesn't take a whole lot to set him off.
I agree that a Red Lantern Guy would be more likely to work with Hal and Sinestro and the other, than Attrocitus. From the way he is written I think would would let the universe end if it means the Guardians and Sinestro die along with it.
i think it makes sense. guy has always been known to lose his temper. when hal had the red ring and green ring we saw he was mindless but could do more with it than the other red lanterns. maybe since guy has more experience with anger he can use the red ring to it full extent without becoming blinded by rage due to his willpower. that might be one of the key story points. since the green light is willpower/control, the more skillful green lanterns need to use their willpower and another of the emotions.
I can't help but wish that 'the corpse' returns in blackest night. I mean what would set Guy off more than discovering he had his mind erased, by a love interest no less.
that and the suited name
i'm up for the ride. curious to see where this goes.
Maybe in a few months DC is going to be soliciting their monthly "Guy Gardner: Red Lantern" comic - the Green Lantern titles are selling really well, they've got room to expand and too many GLs in the two titles as it is.
It's gotta be Kilowog dying. Hope I'm wrong!!!
