Cover of the Week - Supergirl, Immortal Weapons, Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Sure, anyone who is anyone in the comic world may be currently in San Diego for Comic-Con International. But we are not just anyone, we are the Weekly Crisis crew and we are deeply committed to bring you quality posts for your enjoyment, while everyone is taking part in the biggest party of the comic book world. That's how dedicated we are!

We'll be continuing our coverage of Comic-Con, but for now we slow down a bit to look at some of our favorite covers in yet another edition of Cover of the Week! In case you missed it in yesterday's post, Kirk had to leave on a shotgun vacation, but he left us his choice for this week's post. Hit the jump to see our favorite covers of the week, which may or may not include: a very fat man, a cute little dog, and seagulls.

Kirk's Cover of the Week - Supergirl #43

Kirk: Beautiful Josh Middleton cover. Just loved the soft colouring and quiet setting with Supergirl in the clouds.

Matt's Cover of the Week - Immortal Weapons #1

Matt: I'm just a sucker for these negative spaces covers that David Aja does. They also remind me of the good old days of Immortal Iron Fist, and that's always a good thing.

Ryan's Cover of the Week - Wonderful Wizard of Oz #8

Ryan: There is a beautiful simplicity in this piece. Skottie Young does a great job of creating a sense of wonderful out of a very basic image.

Runner-ups: Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man #53, Avengers: The Initiative #26, Dark Wolverine #76

No love for the Alex Ross ASM #600 cover? I thought that image is his best cover ever.

Dark Wolverine over Savage She-Hulk?
suppose tastes differ.

Immortal weapons really is the runaway winner just for reminding us all of how good Iron Fist used to be with the classic style cover

Yeah I vote Immortal Weapons too.

@Johnathan, I liked the idea of the Alex Ross Spidey cover (and it is one of the most dynamic covers from Ross I have seen in recent memory) but the colors totally ruined it for me.

Every time I see that Immortal Weapons cover I think it's the Famous Alfred Hitchcock Side Picture/Profile. Not that it's bad or anything.
