Bendis has always impressed me on Ultimate Spider-Man and, even if you disagree with Spidey being on the New Avengers, he's clearly someone Bendis just gets in any universe and I hope this back-up story is a springboard to an eventual arc on Amazing Spider-Man by Bendis. You can view a sneakpeak of Bendis's and Quesada's upcoming backup work over at Newsarama.
Ryan Reynolds is Hal Jordan
However, as far as casting choices go, Reynolds wouldn't have been my pick. It's not that I don't like him or think he's a bad actor, but he's charasmatic, funny, sarcastic and witty and Hal Jordan is, well, cardboard. Green Lantern comics have been amazing lately, but not on the strength of Hal's personality or character, as evidenced by his complete lack of a supporting cast or personal growth.
Reynold's actually reminds me more of the smart mouthed Guy Gardner or even a Kyle Rayner more so than Hal Jordan, but, as far as choices go, Reynolds is good and has the look, at least. As an aside, I wonder if Scarlett Johansson will play Carol Ferris?
Baron Zemo & The Original Thunderbolts Return
“Old school T-Bolts fans rejoice! Songbird is actually going to begin to assemble the original TBolts in issue #134. Her mission basically is to destroy Norman Osborn and his crazy pack of killers who have taken the good name of the original T-bolts. And yes, Zemo has been discussed internally, so stay tuned. We haven’t decided just yet… or maybe we have and I’m just not going to tell you. [laughs]”Best news ever or bestest news ever? As a longtime fan of Thunderbolts (I have the entire series up to that abysmal Deadpool crossover recently, minus the 'Fight Club' nonsense during the Jemas era), this is the best news I've heard in a while.
Baron Zemo went from purple sock wearing joke to Dr Doom level in my eyes with Busiek's and Fabian's runs on the book and I've solely missed him since his last miniseries. Was honestly hoping he'd be in The Cabal with the other big names and possibly leading Osborn's Thunderbolts, but this reunion of sorts will make up for his omission and then some. Thunderbolts just went back on my pull list and I'll be tracking down the last couple issues I skipped out on after I dropped the title.
Kirby Krackle's Newest Single
Andrenn, who's been pulling double duty on his own blog and over at Rokk's Revolution, brought to my attention that Kirby Krackle, an indie band with a comic book focus, has been putting out more and more new content (I last spotlighted them when their first single debuted back in Aug 2008). Their newest single, Ring Capacity, is amazing and a must listen for anyone. Hit up their MySpace page for a free listen and I'm sure you'll agree.
What Does Wednesday Comics Look Like?

While it's possible they could cast Scarlett Johansson, I doubt it given that she's currently playing the Black Widow in Iron Man 2. Obviously that's not necessarily a dealbreaker as Reynolds is Deadpool in addition to Hal Jordan, but I think it makes it less than likely, particularly given that Iron Man 2 is still in production and won't be released until next year, whereas X-Men Origins: Wolverine will be a fairly distant memory by the time Green Lantern is released.
Zemo! Can't wait!
I think it was Tom Breevort that posted an image of Twitter of someone reading Wednesday Comics inside the Marvel offices, wearing an Iron Man mask and in front of a huge panel with all Marvel characters.
@Klep - Iron Man 2 has pretty much wrapped up its filmin. Fauverau already twittered as much. Most of the stuff left is editing, the odd reshoot and special effects. I was mostly joking about Scarlett due to her relationship with Ryan and the fact he's "switching" to DC.
I really can't picture Ryan as Hal Jordan, it's one of those really really weird scenarios where the actor just has too much charisma for his bland character.
If i was casting for Hal i'd probably have picked Mark Valley and just told him Brad Chase from Boston Legal, but with super powers.
@Kirk: Ah, I was not aware they were in a relationship. He's a lucky man.
Hey, that's my name! Cool :D Thanks for the mention Kirk.
Wednesday comics sure looks cool. Really wish I could pick this up.
Zemo is the one name that could redeem thunderbolts, presumably with his mild racism and sword mastery.... no no just his awesomeness.
Seriously, long time fan of the Thunderbolts and everything outside of Black Widow II has sucked at present (and she suddenly looks like a man now. and is probably just Black Widow in disguise), so this is.. just wow
LOL I really wish the art on Thunderbolts was better. It's really gone downhill since De La Torre left.
Wasn't this 601 Bendis storyline originally supposed to show up in the huge issue 600? I swear that's what they'd originally said? Hmm...
I like Ryan Reynolds but I am part of the camp that thinks he's sort of an odd fit especially with him already being deadpool already. I'm sure he'll still do a fine job as long as the script is good. Ever since I saw that fake Nathon Fillion trailer though, I thought that he would make an awesome green lantern. But thats prob the Whedon fan in me.
