If you missed it this weekend, I invited two bloggers, Matt Ampersand and Eric Rupe, to join me here at the Weekly Crisis. While I will still be handling the previews, reviews, moments of the week and the odd editorial piece here and there, they will be focusing on providing their own brand of content, such as Matt's post celebrating female super heroes in honour of International Women's Day or Eric's new column, Trade Waiting, which will be a weekly column focused on reviewing various trade paperbacks and hardcovers and launches on Thursday. As for this week's Post-Crisis Comic Book Previews, I'm slated to pick up five new books this week. Noteworthy picks are the beginnings of two DC events, both of which I wasn't even planning on getting up until last week, in the form of Battle of the Cowl #1 and Action Comics #875. ACTION COMICS #875Written by Greg Rucka

To give the full details of this story would spoil the dramatic finale of the "New Krypton" crossover, and we don't want to do that! Suffice to say, a "World Without Superman" is a very dangerous place, indeed, and the only thing standing between the good (and not so good) folks of Earth and an impending shadow of doom are the all-new Nightwing and Flamebird!

Kirk Says: Honestly wasn't going to follow this title just a few short weeks ago. However, on the strength of the first World of New Krypton issue, I'm going to take a chance and pick up Rucka's first issue on Action Comics.

Kirk Says: While I didn't review it last week, I actually picked up the first Gotham Gazette issue (I'm a big fan of Jamie McKelvie on art). While it didn't knock my socks off, I did walk away satisfied with the purchase and am now willing to give Battle for the Cowl a chance.
CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI13 #11Written by Paul Cornell

Kirk Says: Dracula and Dr Doom! Blood covered vampire rockets fired from the Moon! Lots of sentences from me with exclamation points! Loud noises!
In all seriousness, Captain Britain and MI13 is one of the few books that I would consider truely unique, from the characters to the setting to the stories. Simply put, it's a fun book to read and I never know what to expect every month. Case in point, a story featuring vampires, Dracula, and Dr Doom that I can't get enough off. Stories this imaginative and fun are something you can only find in the comic medium.
GREEN LANTERN CORPS #34Written by Peter J. Tomasi

The prelude to "Blackest Night" continues as the "War of Light" heats up. Mongul commands Daxam and their Superman-like citizens plus the entire Sinestro Corps. Can Arisia and a small resistance of Daxamites defeat the fear-bearing Corps with Sodam Yat out of the picture?
Kirk Says: I dare anyone to look at that cover and tell me they won't be buying this comic. This should be an easy candidate for my pick of the week.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #11 Written by Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning

If Captain Marvel is no more, how is he here? With War of Kings about to explode across the galaxy, two of the Guardians face death itself! Kirk Says: Not sure what to think of the Captain Marvel appearance. Wasn't this done already with the Skrull version during Secret Invasion? I was actually hoping they were hinting at Genis' return when the mention of Captain Marvel appearing was first rumoured for this title. I'm a big fan of this book and the combo of Abnett and Lanning, so I doubt I'll walk away disappointed, but I'm still a little iffy on yet another bait and switch attempt with the original Captain Marvel.

Did you know that Gravity was set to become the next Captain Marvel before the whole skrull non-sense? I wonder if this is him...
If you've seen the previews of GoTG, it appears that Quasar is being attacked by both the original Captain Mar-Vell and Genis, the Captain Marvel written by Peter David. Frankly, anything that gets Genis back into continuity should be a good thing.
Wow! That is a great cover to Captain Britain. Add that to this week's buy stack.
Action Comics, Battle for the Cowl and GLC for me. I'm looking excited to both books, and the rumor is that Nightwing and Flamebird identities are revealed in Action Comics. Go Go DC!
Marvel is a little lighter with Captain Britain and Guardians of the Galaxy. Both of which I'm looking forward to, but not nearly as much as the DC books. Solid week.
The Death Of Captain Marvel graphic novel is one of Marvel's finest, most mature works. I can't really understand this urge to not leave a near-perfect ending alone.
