Much lighter reading week coming up based on this week's Post-Crisis Comic Book Previews. Only looking at about six or seven books compared to the previous week's dozen or more. Notables are Secret Warriors #2, the follow up to Jonathan Hickman's big debut last month, Superman: World of New Krypton #1, the first part of Superman's self imposed exile from Earth to New Krypton, and War of Kings #1, the beginning of Marvel's next big space epic.In blog news, I've been speaking with several people about them possibly contributing regular posts or guest posts/columns to the Weekly Crisis to help. You'll still have to put up with my regular blabbering three or four times a week, but you can expect to see more editorial and opinion pieces appearing on the blog from various people in the coming weeks. DARK REIGN: FANTASTIC FOUR #1Written by Jonathan Hickman

Kirk Says: Despite "the Bridge" looking an awful lot like a Stargate in the previews for this, I'm excited for the book nonetheless. The reason? Jonathan Hickman is on the writing chores. This mini should help provide a preview for what his upcoming run should be like and I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Kirk Says: Damn you Marvel for making me buy a Daniel Way written comic again. Along with the announcement of Alpha and Omega bookends for the Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men crossover, it looks like Marvel is tired of simply 100+ tie-in events and is moving for a full blown 90's resurgence. I give it about 6 months before we start seeing chromium covers. Whatever happened to just telling the damn story in one title?

Kirk Says: I actually received a review copy of this from Jim McCann and will be posting an adavnced review of this tomorrow. While the title hadn't really been on my radar prior to reading it, I'm actually going to be picking up my own copy come Wednesday. So, look for that review tomorrow.
SECRET SIX #7Written by Gail Simone

It's the big finale of the first arc and a punishing battle royal, Gotham City style, as the bloody, ragged remains of the Secret Six fight their way through throngs of Gotham City heroes and villains. Kirk Says: It's Secret Six, possibly the best monthly title DC is currently putting out. I had concerns early on in the series about the "get out of Hell free" card, but Simone has silenced every one of those and avoided every pitfall along the way. Can't wait to see how the team reacts to the betrayal from last issue.

Kirk Says: I'm disappointed that neither Johns nor Frank will be involved in this title. What was being built up as supposedly the year of Superman has quickly fizzled in my eyes as the main forces propelling my interest in the titles (Johns and Frank) have both taken a step back and aren't even invovled in the books anymore. I'll be checking this series out, but I'm not sold on it yet.

Kirk Says: Can't believe this event is finally here. It's like it snuck up on me without warning. The prologue issue was crazy good with Black Bolt stepping up big time and taking control of the weakened Kree Empire as well as wiping out the fleeing Skrull Armada and pissing Vulcan off royally. Here's hoping Abnett and Lanning can continue with the momentum built with that prologue issue.

I disagree here; for stories that will affect both titles, these smaller crossovers have a lot of advantages. Among them, getting the story told much more quickly (six issues in two months, instead of, say, six issues in six months).
I didn't even realize that War of Kings was coming out this week until I saw you mention it. And here I thought it was going to be a slow week.
@IslandLiberal - The thing is, I don't want to read or buy Deadpool (only Thunderbolts), She-Hulk (from the She-Hulk X-Factor team up) or spend $30 in two months for two oversized Alpha/Omegas ($4.99 pretty much guaranteed), 2 Dark Avengers ($3.99 x 2, but actually want to read DA) and 2 Uncanny X-Men ($2.99, maybe $3.99 at the time x 2 and I dont care about that title).
If they want to ahve these stories, just dont cross them over and switch a title to biweekly for the duration and I can at least put up with it as I enjoy that title (or not buy it if its in the other one). As it is, I'm forced to pick up extra books I wouldn't or I'm stuck with half a story. It's why I own a bunch of Spirit of Vengence titles from the 90s, among other ridiculous books.
It's more the principle of the thing. At least the DA/UXM one will have the same writer compread to getting Daniel Way, a writer I loathe, titles in this DP/Tbolt xover.
Secret Six and Superman are all I'm getting from DC. But I have the opposite appeals on each of them. I've loved the New Krypton stuff, and everytime I see a 'Con report, it's what I look forward to the most. From what I've seen in solicits, it's only going to get better. Much more appealing than whats happening in the Bat-books right now. Secret Six has been.. okay. I'm probably just a big lights and flash kind of guy who doesn't like these kinds of books, so I'm considering if it's worth the effort. I'm sticking with it for now, because of all the batman characters that I've missed, and because Simone weaves a pretty good story.
as for Marvel, well.
I'm getting Daredevil definitely. I love Iron fist, and with Kingpin on the way back, in somewhat of a surprising way, I'm very excited for the title. Go Bru.
I'm also getting Deadpool, and as much as the title hasn't blown me away, I love the Deadpool character way too much to drop the title. I wish they'd have just put Deadpool in X-force, or let Kyle/Yost write him, but oh well.
I'm also obviously getting War of Kings. I haven't read any of the tie-ins, and I don't know if I will (opinions on importance of them?). DnA are good with stories and I'm pretty certain that they know how much a tie-in should actually tie-in to the main book.

Just Agents of Atlas #2 for me this week, besides the books I didn't buy last week. I have made my line in the sand that I will not buy any books for $3.99.
Supposedly Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk #3! Just actually seeing the thing exist is going to be the highlight of my week. I thought I'd be reading this while playing Duke Nukem Forever in some sort of magical fantasy land, but it coming out just in time for the Ultimate imprint to die is... shocking? I dunno.
Btw, SUPERMAN: WORLD OF NEW KRYPTON #1 (OF 12) isn't written by Andrew Kreisberg, it's now written by Greg Rucka and James Robinson. This has also changed my opinion about the book from "meh" to a definite buy.
You can imagine my surprise at finding Secret Six wasn't a 6 issue mini-series.
@Ethereal - I'm still pissed at Brubaker over the whole 'ship the wife off to the nuthouse and then cheat on her and enjoy it' fiasco. It's subsided a bit and I liked his run for the most part despite that, so I might get back into it when a trade comes out or something.
As for War of Kings, there's only been the Prologue issue and the Darkhawk 2 issue mini, which only one part came out. Darkhawk doesn't seem to have any significance based on the first issue, so easily skip that. The Prologue was awesome and you should track that down if you didnt yet.
Ive heard about other one shots or minis (not sure what they are) for Lilandra and a couple of others, but nothing that stood out as essential or lead-ins like previous Annihilation events. Nova nad Guardians havent really tied in yet, but set the stage with the new Nova Corps and other info. Should tie in as we go along too.
@rawnzilla - I hear you about the $3.99 books, but I'm an addict and used to Canadian pricing being a $1 more than most books from years past, so not as significant to me. On my list, I think only the FF, War of Kings and Reunion are $3.99 books though.
@Bill - I saw that coming out,b ut I just don't care anymore. It is shocking to see it finally coming out though. Might grab a trade after its all said and done.
@Sander - Ya, I knew that, but I typically just copy and paste the solicits from DC and Marvel's catalogue pages where they refuse to update anything after the initial listing.
@Dork - It was always announced as an ongoing, but I'm surprised sales are still keeping it going, too.
Kirk, several of the WoK tie-ins, including the Lilandra one, are going to be digital comics on Marvel's service. I think any one that isn't Nova, GotG and Darkhawk/Ascension are going to be released on through their digital comics service.
@Eric - I hadn't heard that. Actually, I probably didn't pay attention while skimming for the bolded announcements. I'll have to go look into this now.

Its called Wok: Warriors and is by Christos Gage and Jay Faerber. Gage is writing a Gladiator story and a Blastaar two-parter while Faerber is doing a story for Crystal and then one for Lilandra.
