Cover of the Week - Spider-Man Noir, Ultimatum & Hotwire

For the second outing of the Cover of the Week feature, Eric and Matt are joining me with their own choices for the cover of the week. Hit the jump for our picks and feel free to let us know what you thought was the best cover this week.

KIRK's PICK - SPIDER-MAN: NOIR #4

Kirk Says: Just loved the use of contrast in this image. It's basically an inverted 'noir'/black and white cover with some pale yellow added for effect and I just found it extremely striking on the shelf, making it my choice for the Cover of the Week.

MATT's PICK - ULTIMATUM #3

Matt Says: Ultimatum is probably one of the worst comics of this decade, and I am not buying it, but this cover by Ed McGuinness certainly catches the eye in the stands. I love me some fourth-wall acknowledging, and this cover certainly does it in an interesting way.

ERIC's PICK - HOTWIRE #2

Eric Says: I love the colours on the cover, in particular the floating head. There is also a lack of dead space and its all render beautifully. Also, bonus points for ripping electronics out of a ghost.

Runners-Up: X-Force #13, Moon Knight #28, Dark Avengers #3

No love for Invincible #60?

Honestly didnt think it was Ottley's best work. Fairly standard 'everyone flying out of cover' image. Points for the number of characters drawn and general cleanliness of his linework, but felt like he just rushed out a bunch of character sketches so he could get back to drawing the interiors, which look much better than the cover.

I agree with Kirk. It's a really well done pin-up, but not particularly interesting or ground breaking.
