Minor Weekly Crisis Blog Changes

I made a few adjustments to the site today. Very minor cosmetic things. One was the font for the site. For some reason, way back when I did the redesign, I chose trebuchet for my font and I never did get used to it. I've switched it over to my favourite base font, verdana. I don't know about everyone else, but I find it much easier on the eyes and the blog is more readable for me now. Let me know if there's any problems with this or people preferred the old font style.

The other change is the addition of a poll on the right. I'm trying out some different ones and the one currently up is the default Blogger poll. It doesn't seem to let me change any of the colour options, so I may have to move it down into the white sidebar or opt for an outside poll source. I know the poll options are kind of difficult to see and I'm not sure why I can't find an elegant solution to change their colour to white. The question part seems to adopt the sidebar's base colours, so I'm a bit confused as to why the poll options didn't.

The current poll is about Final Crisis #1 and how you liked it, with my final verdicts as the poll options. As it's a test poll, know that, if people enjoy this kind of thing, I'll have them more current and launch such polls on the day the issue actually comes out instead of a week late.

Oh, and if you haven't been paying attention, I finished the Back Issue Bins of the Archives I launched a little over a week ago. When I launched, I hadn't gotten around to finishing up linking all the reviews to their respective Back Issue Bin page. That's all done now and most have small descriptions or storyline titles for each issue and the verdict I gave each issue - Must Read, Check It or Avoid It.

Speaking of verdicts, I've labelled all my reviews with their respective verdicts and, if applicable, the major storyline they are a part of, such as Countdown, Messiah Complex, Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul, etc, and I should have new archive pages up for the Comic Book Events & Storylines as well as allow you to view by verdicts later tonight. Both will be organized by date or by title / verdict (alphabetically) for your convenience.

Finally, I received my Amazing Spider-Man issue today, so I'll try to put up an advanced review of that later this evening. And don't forget the Atomic Robo Vol 1 Giveaway Contest! I had some form issues early this morning while I was sleeping and woke up to find the amount of responses had eaten up my Wufoo submission quota.

While I expected it to eventually reach that high, I didn't expect it so fast and on relatively "slow" days for the site, which is busiest during the reviews and moments of the week half of the week. It was probably due to CBR's Comics Should Be Good and Newsarama's Blog@ linking to me combined with my regular traffic that did the deed so early in the week.

However, it's all working now, though, so no worries on that end and there shouldn't be any more problems to my knowledge. Enjoy the cosmetic changes and good luck on the contest to all who enter!

I like the addition of the poll and REALLY like that the poll options are your final verdict options-it really fits and ties in well with the site!

Wow so the new font took a couple seconds for me to get used to. It's very readable- I realized I sat way close to my computer to read the old font. Good luck with future tinkering.

The new font is going to need some getting used to. I didn't mind the old one at all so the change wasn't something I thought needed a change. Oh well.

Nice poll, I noticed it, but barely and almost thought it was some sort of ad. I think you should get something that stands out more, maybe putting it somewhere in the header like 'The Revolution' has.
