Random Comic Book Moments of the Week

No, you didn't walk into an episode of the Twilight Zone. This is, indeed, only Tuesday and you didn't miss this week's comics or reviews. This is somethign I've done this once or twice before and it's simply my Random Comic Book Moments of the Week. I come by random comic images all the time when I go searching for scans and I typically file anything I find funny in my comic image folder and go back and laugh at them once in a while. Since news is a little slow, I decided to just toss a bunch up for a quick and light hearted post.

One last thing, comics are delayed until Thursday this week. Seems Americans took Monday off and Diamond, with their stranglehold on the comics industry, decided it wasn't going to publish books until Thursday for everyone.

Anyways, enjoy the random moments!

"Run! It's the Silver Surfer! He might be mean!"

Oh, Dr Doom, the things you say, you're so evil to people, like our friend, the Silver Surfer, here. He can't be mean! He can't even tell a lie!

"The Immortal Iron Kirby - Coming to the Wii 20XX"

After seeing this, I now know that we need a Marvel vs. Smash Bros, STAT. It'd be worth it just for the Immortal Iron Kirby. Marvel, Nintendo, make it happen.

"Eighty dollars."

I can't place this scene. I remember seeing it and just saving it to a file, but I know it's a conversation between Wolverine and Black Widow with Spidey stuck in the middle. I do know that it's funny and so it gets posted.

"What is myspace?"

I get the distinct feeling this is from a Dan Slott story of some kind, but it was damn funny, so I stuck it in my comic image folder and now it's unleashed upon the unsuspecting masses, ie. you, for viewing pleasure. Poor Cap. They say the memory is the first thing to go.

"*whistle*"

Brubaker's Captain America run isn't the only time his series has been awesome. There was stuff like this back in the day. I think this is the Waid run, but, like most of these, I just save the images and rarely get the context or issue it came with.

"Look, Big Sister, Charizard -- Third Evolve of Charmander..."

We needed a Big Barda mini-series where she enters a Pokemon tourney and beats up little kids. Gold Jerry, gold. This is actually fairly recent, in comparison to other moments, and was in one of last year's Birds of Prey issues, the one where Knockout was killed, to be specific.

"Countdown hasn't been kind to Darkseid."

Poor Darkseid. After the destruction of Apokalips and the whole death of the New Gods thing, he's fallen on hard times and is reduced to slinging burgers to fund his nefarious schemes. I hear Libra found him here and that's where we pick up with them in Final Crisis.

"You don't say."

What is the point of those pinty things on Flash's mask? Surely it would cause friction for him running at the speed of light, and sometimes beyond. Black Canary helps straighten them out for him in this scene.

The scene with Wolverine, Spidey and Widow is from Ultimate X-Men 35.
Great blog.

ah a nice homage to Better Off Dead. would have been better had it been 200 instead of 80.

The Cap/movie panel is from a Jeff Parker-written issue of Marvel Adventures Avengers.

I could write that Darkseid-Libra-McDonalds scene...but it'd probably end up sounding too much like the "What's Wrong, Sam?" scene in Nextwave.

I'm just saying, for the record, that I could.

I remember seeing the previous page to the Cap/Hydra-goon image, it was basically him listening in that someone was coming and throwing the shield in the air, waiting for someone to walk out that door.

A little far-fetched, but awesome.

The Cap/Hydra one is from Captain America #2. The #2 right after Heroes Reborn. Waid and Garney were back, and this issue hypes up Cap's shield something fierce. So of course he loses it at the end.
