Ugh, sorry about the lack of updates. I've been a bit under the weather all weekend. Pretty much stayed in bed most of the time. I tried to put together last week's
Moments of the Week, but it's a little light on content compared to most weeks. Still, better than nothing. Enjoy and here's hoping for no relapses.
THOR #7
"Gone with the Wind."
Poor Bor. His ungrateful son, Odin, couldn't even be bothered to make a new snowman body for him and went and claimed the throne for himself. Bad jokes aside, I enjoyed the entire 'origin of Odin' sequence.
DEATH OF THE NEW GODS #7
Anti-Moment of the Week - "If I pound away at anything long enough, it goes down!"
This is everything I hate about
Superman. While not every writer writes him with such terrible dialogue, just about every single one of them does write him with the idea that Superman can punch anything enough times to win. It's why Superman comics have become irrelevant these days and with very few exceptions, such as
All-Star Superman, Red Sun or other
Elseworlds tales, no one cares about the character outside of nostolgia anymore.
IMMORTAL IRON FIST #13
"Move woman, move!"I loved the contrast of these Immortal Weapons, people that can kill with a simple gesture and have all just finished beating each half to death, just sitting around telling stories, drinking and eating together. Add in Fat Cobra's enjoyment of Dog Brother's story and his unique way of making room for Prince of Orphans and it adds up to a great scene.
"So we can get out, you dumb son of a bitch"It's a shame Aja didn't do all the pages in this issue, specifically this final one, but the dialogue more than makes up for the change in art. This is one of those cliffhangers you know isn't just a shock value ending to get you to come back next month. It's one that you're coming back next month for because you know some dumb son of a bitch is about to get his ass handed to him.
CAPTAIN AMERICA #36
"Screw you guys, I'm going home."
Poor Bucky. Can't catch a break. Just when he thinks he's got the whole Cap thing down post-super-villain brawl, he finds out he's not nearly as imposing as Steve was and gets boo'd off the stage by the rioting crowd. I think the last panel would have been better if they did a take on the classic "No More Spider-Man" with Bucky's back to us as he walked out of the alley.
"I killed you, didn't I?"
Clone? Regeneration tank? Life model decoy? Skrull? Your Steve Rogers is in another caslte? Who knows, but we've seen a few of these stories before, so I'm curious to see what Brubaker has planned.

i for one hope that infinity man kicks supes ass
I've actually enjoyed the recent Action Comics run because Superman's been powerless. The best Supe stories are the ones where he has to rely on his brains and his character of course....
kirk, when Moments of the Week didn't come up last Friday, I cried. And checked Saturday and Sunday and cried more. It just sort of completes my week. Thanks for still putting them up. Cap is awesome. I really hope Bru's run still runs just as strong with the transition pretty much done with Buck. still need to jump on Immortal Iron F. Do you read Ex Machina, I know you read Y. Been catching up on in trades. I think when all is said and done, Ex Machina will be just as big or bigger than Y.
