They'll be dropping non-spoilery reviews the day before the books are available so you can best make up your mind on what to buy tomorrow. We offer this service because Image has been putting out some amazing content lately and it will be nice to shine a light on every single title they produce. This week our intrepid team looks at Invincible Universe #1, Saga #12, Sex #2, and The Walking Dead #109.

Saga #12

William Tournas: After the last gut wrenching emotional issue, Saga takes a step back for the beginning of it's third story arc and focuses on one of it's other interesting characters, Prince Robot IV.
The issue begins with a flashback to PR IV's time in the war, and by the end of it we realise he's actually dreaming some of the horrifying experiences he's endured in the past.
I love the idea of the Robot Kingdom and it's people having TV's for heads. It's an imaginative idea that works quite well. They show their emotions with images/footage from various media. In this instance PR IV's dream is being played on his screen while he sleeps.
This issue focuses on PR IV's continuing search for the author D. Oswald Heist, as he believes finding him will provide some clue as to the whereabouts of Alana & Marko.
The issue is mainly all dialogue which is change of pace for recent issues, but Brian K. Vaughan doesn't ease up on the suspense and tension. This issue felt like a scene out of a Tarantino, where the dialogue keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting for the shit to hit the fan.
Fiona Staples is as always breathtakingly amazing. Each page is a work of art that i would gladly hang up on my wall if had the chance. The Cover, First Page, and Last Page are amazing splash pages that had me drooling.
As always Saga is an ongoing masterpiece that should not be missed.

Hansel Moreno: Issue one hundred and nine. That is a lot of story to sell you on. These characters have loved, lost, survived, killed, saved, hunted, bonded and felt just about every way about each other. The core group now is almost unrecognizable from issue one. Most of my friends do not read the monthlies and opt for the trade. I do not blame them. Month after month Robert Kirkman leaves me with my heart in my throat.
This book isn't about zombies. It is not about finding a cure or getting back to where they started. This comic is a journey. We see their struggles and admire how they cope or admonish how they fail but we see them act in all too human ways.

This is a quiet issue where we see Maggie and Sophia start to recuperate from their loss. The hilltop is new to them and they are having a bit of trouble getting acclimated to this new community. Charlie Adlard and Cliff Rathburn beautifully bring this world to life. (Well.. except the zombies. Those are gruesome.) Charlie is able to capture so much emotion in facial expressions, half the story is in the faces of the characters. Great job guys!
On it's own most if this issue is an interlude from the violence and gives us some insight on characters that haven't been in the limelight for a few issues. I hope the pacing doesn't throw off the singles readers and I'm sure in trade form this issue will whip right by because, guess what? Kirkman gives you another cliffhanger. KIIIIIRRRKMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
