Cover of the Week - Batwoman and Baltimore

With everything else that's been going on this week, let's not forget our illustrious Covers of the Week! To do so would be a gross oversight. This time around, we've a woman of bats standing amongst snakes and fire and a widow and a tank laying amongst the detritus of life. To see these gems, along with our honourable mentions, simply take a stroll behind the cut.

Ken's Cover of the Week - Batwoman #17 by J.H. Williams III

Ken: There's been talk about how over the past decade covers seem to give up the story element in exchange for looking like movie posters, but they never quite look like a movie poster. This cover actually delivers on that idea though, and it's just beautiful. Putting the logo in the center works when you have a frontal shot that is slightly lower than eye level. The only thing that needs to change is to remove the New 52 from the top corner. It's been a year and a half now, it's not new, DC.

Grant's Cover of the Week - Baltimore: The Widow and the Tank by Ben Stenbeck

Grant: While it's always tempting to get Mike Mignola to do the covers for his books, I'm glad they tapped Ben Stenbeck for this one.  Stenbeck is a fantastic artist, and this cover is clear evidence of that fact.  I love the way he manages to link the two stories in this comic through his choice of imagery, combining the photo of The Widow with the bones and poppies of The Tank into one hauntingly beautiful cover.
