Cover of the Week - Amazing Spider-Man and Mara

We've got a reduced week, but that won't stop us from doling out some Cover of the Week love.  Especially when our winners are so amazing and mysterious.  But while these reductions won't stop us from having some dandy winners, it does make the honourable mentions list a little light, although we think you'll enjoy them nonetheless.  So there's nothing left for you to do but to join us on the other side of the cut!

Ken's Cover of the Week - Amazing Spider-Man #700 by Marcos Martin

Ken: For a light week this cover stands out the most. Even though it's still not milestone cover big, it's original in how it was made, putting all the ASM creators on the cover throughout the years. I think they're all there, even those who drew just an issue or two compared to the mainstays like Stan Lee and McFarlane.

Grant's Cover of the Week - Mara #1 by Ming Doyle

Grant: Ming Doyle's art is what I loved most about this book, and her exquisite work looks just as good on the outside as it does on the inside.  The layout is really neat here, with the logo and side bar on the left hand side of the cover giving a sense of movement to the whole page, while Mara stands stock still in the foreground.  Her expression is hard to read here.  Is she calm?  Sad?  Calculating?  The question really draws you in, and the red on her cheek is equally mystifying.  Paint or blood?  There's a lot going on here, and it all adds up to one fine looking cover.

Runner-Ups: All Amazing-Spider Man #700 all the time!
