Moment of the Day - Magneto Rips Out Wolverine's Adamantium
Magneto forcibly removes Wolverine's adamantium, as seen in X-Men #25.
One of the defining moments in both Magneto and Wolverine's histories, this is still up there as one of the most memorable X-Men comics for me growing up.

That happened pretty much as I was getting into comics, and I remember it as the first time I saw Magneto as an actually evil guy.
This is probably the only non-Spider-man moment that I really remember from reading comics when I was younger. I was so shocked by this at the time.
@ Kirk: that moment made me a comics fan back in the 90's. Thanks for posting it.
Could you please take some ideas to post another moments from us the readers? if so, it would be great if you post Bane cracking Batman's Back, Doomsday and superman in the last blow that killed them both, Hal Jordan becoming Parallax or Batman Azrael... I know that those moments are present in all the fans that grew back in the 90's.
Thanks,
ENRIQUE G.
who drew this? Was it Jim Lee? it seems a little his style but without the degree of detail of him
@Enrique G. - I've got most of those either already finished and banked for posting or the images themsevles are saved and just need to upload/add some captions. I'm not sure when they'll be posted, but they are in the pipeline.
@Anonymous 4 - Andy Kubert drew it.
I've heard about this moment so many times but never actually seen it. I thought it'd be more gory than that, but it's still awesome.
@twobit - there are some scenes of it (think in the followup Wolverine issue) that show him a lot worse for wear with his entire rip cage visibly broken and pointing upwards from his body.
If I remember correctly, his immune system was so used to fighting back against Adamantium poisoning, that once it was gone, it went into overdrive, basically causing Wolverine a whole lot of trouble.
yeah it turned him into a feral beast if I remember correctly, but those tales are among the worst of the Wolverine's long history

Wolverine totally deserved it too.
Don't send the leader (Cyclops) on your team to the Asteroid, Xavier, but instead send the guy who has metal running through his body against a man who just launched an EMP across the entire world.
Ah yep this was the very first comic I ever bought, once I finished it I almost ran back to the news agent to pick up Wolverine #75, brilliant story! Pretty sure the art duties were handled by one of the Kurbert brothers, Andy I think? Actually Wolverine #75 was the other Kurbert brother....ahhh such great memories :)

Like losing his nose.
Actually the moment I remember more than this is in the following Wolverine issue where Logan decides in a moment of panic within the Danger Room to "pop" the claws...
You could feel the tension, panic, horror, and the heart breaking of one character in particular....
BTW If I was Magneto, I would have done this a long time ago... I control metal and this lil psycho with it all over his skeleton keep trying to claw my guts out....
See? This is why there isn't any "keeping it real" villains in comics... The heroes would be screwed....
Man! I grew up reading Fatal Attractions, Maximum Carnage, Emerald Dawn, Knightfall, Doomsday!, Spawn... oh dear 90´s !!!
SASTRY
I remember being very annoyed by this, given that it suddenly made Logan's claws part of him (invalidating a bunch of statements he'd made previously about the bionic housings for his claws), made him in to the absurd Bonerine, and changing Adamantium to a magnetic metal.
Actually, it's still kind of annoying.
Oh god, Bonerine sounds like a porn parody name.
As I recall, this was PAD's idea. He mentioned on one meeting of X writers that if Wolverine confronted Magneto there wouldn't be no epic fight, just Magneto tearing him in half.
I think I read that on CBR's Coomic Book Legends REvealed.

Here it is. It's Legend no.3 in the entry.
I've always hated the fact that Magneto pulled out Wolverine's adamantium because, as someone above said, adamantium is not supposed to be magnetic.
Dont get me started on magneto and magnetics. He's the master of the fundamental force of electromagnetism. He can and has in comics been shown to be able to manipulate anything, just as electromagnetism should allow him. It wouldnt matter if its plastic or non ferrus (like say iron in blood) metals, he could easily break it down or affect it. It's why he can open wormholes, use telepathy, absorb/divert lightning, make forcefields, levitate, affect iron in blood despite not being magnetic (youd die getting an MRI if it was magnetic since that is just one big giant magnet) and other crazy abilities. Him affecting adamantium should be an easy task with these powers.
