Nathan Cosby on Mike Wieringo

It's hard to believe it, but it's been three years since Mike Wieringo passed away. Over in his Twitter account, Nathan Cosby has been reminiscing and sharing about his time working with him, including the very last page that he drew (for an issue of What If?) before his untimely end.

Mike Wieringo was a great artist, known for his clean and stylized designs, having worked in books like Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Flash, Impulse, and Tellos among many others. Make sure to visit his personal blog and his DeviantArt account to find many great sketches he used to post there regularly.

I just went over to check out his blog. We truly lost a great artist and person.

man, I haven't seen much art from Wieringo, and I regret that every time I see something he did. It sounds corny as heck but I get a knot in my throat seeing such great art and then thinking about how there will never be any more of it, ever.

I probably drive everyone nuts in my praise for Mike but he was my inspiration to talk online about the things I love. At a NYCC 5 years ago, I got the chance to talk to him about the business and bounce ideas about the companies for 30 minutes. Even as he drew commissions for other customers. I felt honored and humbled.

'Ringo is probably in my Top 3 of great people outside of my family and friends that I have met. There is not a month that goes by that I do not find time to read Tellos or his FF run with Mark Waid.

I still miss him because he was truly one of the best men in the business and hell, if know someone who hated him, that would be a first.

Geez now I'm choked up all over again... I hope Mike is still finding fun wherever he is.. Thx Nate and Matt...
