Congratulations to our Three Years Later Contest Winners!

The Weekly Crisis turned three back on August 1st and to celebrate, we had our regular anniversary contest.  This Three Years Later Contest ran for the past week and today I'm proud to announce the winners of the contest.

The grand prize winner of one The Walking Dead Compendium Vol 1 was Bryant Hudson.  His zombie apocalypse weapon of choice was a machete.

The runner-up prize of one Invincible Iron Man Omnibus, Vol 1 went to Brandon Whaley.  His weapon of choice was "any comic written by Kevin Smith, preferably Cacophony."

Congratulations to the winners and make sure to stay tuned to the Weekly Crisis for more contests in the future.

Haha, I can't believe Brandon won! Hopefully this will put to rest the rumor that there is some kind of competition between us and the guys over at the Revolution.

Congratulations to the winners! Both are great books, and I'm sure you'll like them.

A machete?!?! Bullspit. What an easy non-creative answer. At least A Kevin Smith Comic was slightly original.

@Anonymous - The winners were chosen at random based on comment number, as the rules on the contest page stated, through the use of a random number generator that iterates over the total entries a few thousand times and hashes the results into an average with the winners being the number chosen most often. The answers were there to prove you arent a robot and read the rules and for a bit of fun.

Congrats to the winners! And yes, a machete is an easy answer ... but not as easy as commenting anonymously.

Congratulatons to the winners!

I don't post on here very often (as a matter of fact this is only my 3rd post), but from reading the posts, it sure seems that people who post anonymously get goaded into a lot of stuff by non-anonymous posters (two-bit), but I don't very often see the people who run this site saying very much to them about their comments. It is a 2 way street not just those that are posting anonymously.

Shawn - Dang. It's customary to cough when you say someone's name like that. Like this *coughshawncough*

Oh thats my bad. I just skim the rules. But still... its not really a contest as mush as it is a lottery. Contest implies that the best wins. And there were like 10 machetes.

But congratulations to the lucky winners.

@Shawn - ha, awesome comment, and thanks for leaving it. If you're wondering if we tell non-anon to neck up go check out the comment page on my Story Length post, only a day ago, there is a great anon based discussion going on (not about anons but with one) and I've repeated many times in our comments not to feed the trolls. If they're talking, talk back, if they're trolling, ignore them. I hope most people do that. If they don't I try and reiterate my point.

But it is interesting, I'd find it hard to single out an actual blogger user for lame behaviour because it's not anonymous, whereas telling an anonymous to neck up IS easier because you don't know who you're yelling at. So, the anonymous rudeness is a two-way street, and I'll do my best to rectify that in my thinking, thanks for raising it.

Oh, and the cough is the prefered way of doing things, Shawn. Maybe now someone might realise that they've been seen as an anti-anon poster and they'll fix their ways *coughtwo-bitcough* (there, did I do that right?) because feeding trolls isn't helping anyone, ignoring or talking WITH is the only way. Again, see my aofrementiond Story Length post for good examples of that.

I wasn't trying to goad anyone into anything. I didn't read the rules, I was wrong. I apologize.

But machete? Maybe Machete (as in Danny Trejo), but machete? Lame.

Ryan - Hey, I'll stop feeding the trolls, but they need to stop talking smack. I don't want to have to go to "mommy and daddy" every time they want to pick a fight.

Ryan K Lindsay said...

@Anon13 - no, he says you guys get goaded, not always you doing the goading.

@twobit - If they talk smack ignore them. Nothing need be done beyond that. Trust me.

@twobit

nobody starts fights with you (not that your threatening or intimidating) but you are the one that starts the fights and it is childish and many would agree

lizzie said...

and why ryan are you agreeing that we are trolls ? we start most of the discussions !?

sorry ryan but you and irk need to do something to bloggers that cause trouble although it is only twobit. its not fair when the anonymous people changed but they havent

Ryan K Lindsay said...

@Lizzie - no, mate, I'm not saying all anonymes are trolls, far from it, I constantly advocate the anonymous function i our discussions as site runners, but I'm telling him to ignore any trolls, whoever they be, like possibly anon16 above, just ignore that. Ignore it, ignore it, ignore it.

Hope that clears it all up, now let's go about our lives because I've spent far too much time today moderating instead commenting and writing.
Cheers :)

........ok

but I dont think 16 is a troll he/she just like many readers are just fed up with bloggers .....scratch that twobits abuse

I really wanted that Compendium. You don't have to wait until next year to give another away, right?

Best thing said in the comments section so far, Ryan.

@natureboyHH - We ran 4 or 5 contests since our last anniversary. I'm not srue we'll have two big prizes like these omnibus until next anniversary, but we'll definitely have more contests for various trades before our next anniversary.

The secret is that I won this contest specifically because their is a feud between TWC and The Revolution. I'm sure its laced with anthrax or perhaps red licorice or something (bloody nasty stuff).
